Thursday, March 24th finds the Phoenix Suns playing the Denver Nuggets for the third and final meeting this season. This game will decide the tiebreaker between the clubs as Denver won the October 20th match (110-98) while Phoenix won the November 21st match (126-97).
The Suns are playing the second game of a back-to-back set having beat the Wolves 125-116 on Wednesday while the Nuggets last played Tuesday beating the Clippers 127-115.
Last season the clubs played three times with Denver winning two of three in the regular-season series. The Suns hold the all-time record having bested the Nuggets in 99 of their 184 matches
Phoenix Suns
The Suns continue to win regardless of who is on the floor and are closing in on 60 wins plus nailing down the top seed throughout the playoffs.
Memphis trails Phoenix by nine games and both teams have nine games remaining. Therefore, a loss by the Grizzlies or two wins by the Suns will nail that down.
In franchise history, three teams have hit the 60 win mark. The last Suns team to reach that benchmark was the 2006-7 squad that registered a 61-21 record. The 2004-05 and 1992-93 teams own the best franchise mark of 62-20.
It seems certain this iteration of the Suns will establish the new benchmark needing only to play .500 ball to finish the season to set the new standard.
On Wednesday, things got a little chippy versus the Wolves who were very talkative despite losing the match and setting up a potential rivalry for the postseason if the teams play each other.
Deandre Ayton registered a double-double of 35 points and 14 rebounds (seven offensive boards). Devin Booker scored 28 points while the trio of Landry Shamet (19), Mikal Bridges (16), and Cameron Payne (13) were the other double-figure contributors.
Cameron Johnson (quad) is questionable for Thursday in Denver. Chris Paul (thumb), Frank Kaminsky (knee) and Dario Saric (knee) are all out indefinitely.
Denver Nuggets
Phoenix helped out the Nuggets by defeating the Wolves who began the week in the sixth seed but have fallen back to seventh, 1.5 games back of the Nuggets.
Denver has nine games remaining while the Wolves have eight so the stretch run takes on greater emphasis especially in their positions as one team cements a playoff berth while the other has to win a game in the play-in tournament and isn’t guaranteed anything.
Nikola Jokic and his team have looked fatigued of late and perhaps the wear and tear of not having Jamal Murray or another primary scorer is taking a toll on the big man.
Fortunately, the schedule may help them out, after this match, they’ll have eight more games, with three against lottery teams (Thunder, Pacers, Spurs) or teams currently in the play-in (Lakers x2, Wolves, Hornets).
Zeke Nnaji (hamstring) was downgraded to out Thursday. Vlatko Cancar (fractured foot), Jamal Murry (ACL), and Michael Porter Jr. (back surgery) are out indefinitely.

Free Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Prediction
Although the Suns rarely lose – playing in Denver on the second game of a back-to-back is the toughest venue to win in under those circumstances.
The oddsmakers believe Denver wins by three and I’m in agreement.
