Sunday, November 24, finds Western Conference foes the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets tipping off. This is the second meeting between the squads this season.
Last season, the squads played four times with the Nuggets taking three of the four games and also winning the initial match between the clubs this season in an overtime thriller 108-107. The Suns hold the all-time record having bested the Nuggets in 97 of their 176 matches.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns ended a three-game losing skid with the 100-98 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday. Phoenix arrives in Denver to complete the back to back set which means their hosts will have the rest advantage.

Devin Booker led the way for his Suns coming just short of a triple-double with 35 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. Kelly Oubre Jr. also produced a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds.
The absence of Ricky Rubio is punctuating how much the Suns needed a dedicated point guard and although they got the victory on Saturday his presence would make a huge difference but he remains questionable for the Denver game.
The other key veteran who has played big (no pun intended) for the Suns is Aron Baynes who missed the past three games battling a hip injury and is also questionable for Sunday.
Ty Jerome is out with an ankle sprain and Deandre Ayton continues to serve his 25 game suspension for violating the NBA drug policy with a return date of early December.
Denver Nuggets
Although the conditioning of Nikola Jokic was raised early season the big man isn’t hearing it as he’s led his team on a four-game win streak and firmly positioned their club second overall in the Western Conference.

In a tough match facing the Eastern Conference’s top team, the Nuggets battled the Boston Celtics and took the defensive battle 96-92. The game took a turn when Kemba Walker suffered what appeared to be a horrific injury running head first into his own teammate Semi Ojeleye.
The stretcher was brought out for safety purposes but the injury left both teams somewhat subdued as everyone was hopeful Walker was okay.
Denver did what was necessary and although they built a lead the Celtics extinguished it in the closing minutes but the Nuggets held on with Jamal Murray taking over late.
Murray led his Nuggets with 22 points, five assists and six rebounds while Jokic delivered another triple-double of 18 points, 10 assists and 16 rebounds.
Paul Millsap has strung together some of his best efforts recently and added another double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds in the winning effort. Will Barton was the other double-figure scorer with 15 points.
Murray leads the team in scoring (18.7 points) and steals (1.6), Nikola Jokic leads in rebounds (9.5) and assists (6.1) while Paul Millsap tops the leaderboard for field goal percent (49.2).
The Nuggets have no players listed on the injured list
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Nuggets are 8-2 in last 10 head to head
- The Nuggets are5-4-1 ATS in their last 10
- Over Under is 6-4 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Prediction:
With the uncertainty of Rubio and Baynes being available and the Nuggets having the rest and depth advantage, I’m leaning toward Denver making it five wins in a row.
If the Suns weren’t on a back-to-back and playing in altitude I’d be more inclined to take the nine points but given those factors I’m leaning to the Nuggets holding another opponent under 100 points.
