Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals between the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors tips off at 8:00 PM on Monday, April 29.
Game 1 went the way of the Raptors as the downed the 76ers 108-95. Last season, the squads played four times with the Raptors taking three of four a feat Toronto replicated this season.
Philadelphia 76ers
As Philadelphia’s head coach Brett Brown has never won in Toronto and the Game 1 defeat marked the 76ers 14th consecutive loss on the Raptors home court.
The health of Joel Embiid continues to be a storyline as the center nurses knee tendinitis. The big man logged just under 30 minutes but was less than stellar in the opener scoring just 16 points on 5 of 18 from the field.
Much of the credit goes to Former Defensive Player of the Year Marc Gasol who also shut down Nikola Vucevic in Round 1.

JJ Redick led all 76ers in scoring with 17 points scoring five triples in the third quarter. Toronto also successfully kept defensive pressure on Tobias Harris (14), Ben Simmons (14) and Jimmy Butler (10) who each reached double-digit scoring.

As a whole, the 76ers starting unit was highly ineffective collectively shooting 28 of 68. To put this in perspective Kawhi Leonard and Pascal Siakam shot 28 of 38 from the field and outscored the Sixers starters 74-71.
Mike Scott was wearing a walking boot after suffering a right heel contusion and is listed as out.
Toronto Raptors
Since coming to Toronto seven seasons ago native Philadelphian Kyle Lowry has never lost to the 76ers on his home floor and has an overall 23-5 record versus Philly as a Raptor. Even more impressive is the fact Kawhi Leonard has never lost to the 76ers on any court.
The Raptors lock down defense was on full display holding Philadelphia under 100 points and in truth, the game wasn’t even as close as the score dictated.
This was a beat down on both sides of the hardwood with Kawhi Leonard registering a career playoff high of 45 points via 16 of 23 from the field. Pascal Siakam was equally spectacular scoring 29 points on 12 of 15 from the field. That duo each scored 17 points in the opening frame.

Philly’s offense was lethal in the Nets series where they averaged 122.4 points per game but clearly the Raptors length and aggressive defense proved problematic.
Philadelphia starters were a collective minus -55 while Toronto’s starters registered a plus 113. In fact, all five Raptors starters rank in the top 10 in the raw plus-minus differential of these playoffs.
Chris Boucher (back spasms) )is questionable. OG Anunoby (appendectomy) remains out.
NBA Betting Trends:

Free Philadelphia 76ers vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
Each game in a series takes on a new storyline and while the Raptors won the opener they did so in such convincing fashion it might seem strange to suggest there are areas they can improve.
Specifically, the Raptors are typically more efficient from the perimeter, their bench unit didn’t register a field goal until the third quarter and the Raptors gave up far too many second-chance scoring opportunities because the 76ers were feasting on their offensive glass.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Raptors ATS
Kawhi Leonard preached all year about his load management being necessary to get him healthy to when the games really matter. Witnessing how he clinically dissected the Magic (minus one flu game) and the 76ers in Game 1 perhaps everyone will take him at his word now.
Prior to his injury, Leonard was considered an MVP candidate, the best two-way player and a top-three talent in the league. Through five playoff games, he’s been the best player on the court. and before these playoffs are over his name will once again be cemented in those conversations.
