Saturday, November 2, finds Eastern Conference rivals the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Portland Trail Blazers facing each other for the first time in the 2019-20 season.
Last season, the squads played the typical two cross conference games with the Blazers winning both contests. The 76ers holds the all-time record having bested the Blazers in 58 of their 113 matches.
Philadelphia 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers are now 4-0 on the year and the only unbeaten team remaining in the Association. Their last win came at a cost, however, as big man Joel Embiid got into a dust-up with Wolved Karl-Anthony Towns.

It cost Embiid a two-game suspension, yet the 76ers are lucky that’s all it was given Embiid’s social media antics as well as Ben Simmons getting off easy since he was deemed to be the ‘peacemaker’ despite looking like he had Towns in a chokehold.
In the win over the Wolves, all five 76ers starters scored in double digits with reserve Furkan Korkmaz (17) joining them. Despite the ejection, Embiid led the way with 19, while Tobias Harris (18), Ben Simmons )16), and Al Horford/Josh Richardson (12) each chipped in.
Given the size of the 76ers it’s not surprising they are leading the NBA in rebounding
Philadelphia ranks second defensively holding teams to just over 100 points per game (100.5) and lead the league in steals (11.5) while posting the third best mark for blocks (6.8) per game.
Philly is still figuring out their offense where they rank 22nd. A big concern through the early stages of the season is their issues scoring on the perimeter.
Josh Richardson is nursing a sore big toe on his left foot but expected to play. Trey Burke missed the last game with the flu and is questionable Saturday.
Shake Milton has a mild left knee sprain and won’t return until mid-November.
Portland Trail Blazers
In their last outing, the Blazers didn’t shoot well against a tough OKC Thunder defense but Damian Lillard broke out in the final frame hitting a trio of 3-point shots and getting Rodney Hood a wide open corner 3-point shot to seal the victory.

Four Blazers scored in double-digits including Lillard who led the way with 23 points as he registered a double-double adding 13 assists. Hassan Whiteside also produced a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.
CJ McCollum was right behind Dame scoring 22 points while Kent Bazemore chipped in 14 points.
The Blazers don’t fare much better offensively sitting just one spot ahead of the 76ers in 21st and rank 12th defensively.
Hassan Whiteside hyperextended his left knee and therefore is questionable for this match. Zach Collins is out dealing with a separated left shoulder. Pau Gasol (foot) and Jusuf Nurkic (leg) are both out.
