Thursday, February 28 finds the Philadelphia 76ers completing their season series versus the OKC Thunder. The 76ers defeated the Pelicans Monday 111-110. The Thunder lost to Denver 121-112 on Tuesday.
Not only did the Thunder sweep the 76ers last season and win the initial meeting this year they hold a 19 game win streak vs. Philly. In fact, the last time (and only time) the 76ers have beat OKC it was the inaugural Thunder season on November 15, 2008.
The Lakers hold the all-time record having bested the 76ers 70 of their 134 matches.
The fan bases will be disappointed Joel Embiid won’t be on the court to stoke the current vitriol (whether real or just for the cameras) between Joel and Russell Westbrook.
Unfortunately, his left knee soreness will keep the big man sidelined at least until early March. Making matters worse is Boban Marjanovic has a bone bruise and a mild sprain in his right knee which means he’ll also miss the OKC game stretching the 76ers extremely thin up front.
The big man got hurt in the Pelicans game despite registering a double-double (12 points/10rebounds) prior to the injury. He was joined by five teammates who scored in double digits including Tobias Harris (29 points/10 rebounds) and Ben Simmons (10 points, 12 rebounds) who also produced double-doubles.
With both centers out versus the Thunder, Steven Adams should be primed for a big night.
In addition, Furkan Korkmaz (torn meniscus) is out four weeks, and Shake Milton (finger) will be until late March.
In spite of losing three of four, the loss to the Pelicans was the very last NBA match prior to the All-Star Break which could be considered a trap game.
The Kings loss could’ve swung either way and occurred the night after the emotional double-overtime win versus Utah. Even the loss to the Nuggets featured OKC erasing a deficit to force a clutch time decision.
Still, the minor slump could be tied to poor Paul George shooting nights who shot worse than Russell Westbrook.
With the loss in Denver, the Nuggets clinched the series tiebreak over OKC and increased their lead to four games over the Thunder.
OKC has the toughest schedule down the stretch and will now have to focus on keeping the Blazers and Rockets at bay to retain their home court seed.
NBA Betting Trends:

Free Philadelphia 76ers vs. OKC Thunder NBA Prediction:
Simply can’t bet against a 19 game win streak, home court, Westbrook’s dislike for the 76ers and no Embiid. Odds remain off as of posting but look for the Thunder to use this game to get back in the win column.
