Philadelphia 76ers
On one hand the 76ers can be proud of their effort to erase a massive deficit in Dallas and push the Mavericks in the final frame.
Conversely, the fact Tyrese Maxey was responsible for the comeback while both Joel Embiid and James Harden delivered and the Sixers still lost is concerning.
It speaks to the lack of productive offensive depth and raises red flags about Philly’s ability to consistently bring the defensive effort particularly on the road where they’ll be for 13 of their final 20 games.
Stats
So far this season, the 76ers score an average of 114.2 points per game ranking 16th. Philly shoots 48.2% from the field and 38.4% from the perimeter, ranking eighth and fourth respectively.
What’s more, defense is where the 76ers make their mark allowing the third-fewest opponent points per game with 110.3 and the sixth-best perimeter defense at 34.8% while ranking 14th for opponent field goal percentage allowing opponents to shoot 47.1%.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Dewayne Dedmon, C (questionable—hip)
Milwaukee Bucks
It took 60 games but the teams I picked to compete for the title are finally both sitting in first. Milwaukee has accomplished this by weathering the injury storm and putting up a season best 16 game win streak that is still active.
Adding Jae Crowder at the deadline also raises the question of what the heck James Jones was doing in Phoenix and whether he was asking for a unreasonable return.
As it is Crowder already looks like the perfect addition to the Bucks roster and feels very much like a sneaky version of PJ Tucker. Crowder offers defense, 3-point shooting and grit and you just know he’ll end up being an x-factor in a few playoff games.
Stats
Opponents score the fifth-fewest points with the Bucks allowing 111.2 per game limiting opponents to 45.1% from the field and 34.2% from deep ranking second in both categories.
Offensively, the Bucks score 115.3 points per game ranking 11th, while shooting 46.5% from the field and 36.2% from the perimeter ranking 22nd and 13th in the latter two categories.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Wesley Matthews SG (questionable— calf)

Free Philadelphia 76ers vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction:
Clearly, the Bucks will be invested in winning to continue the streak but it’s the 76ers who have to approach this match as a must-win. They are five games back of Milwaukee and four of the Celtics.
In their final 20 games the 76ers will face 12 teams with winning records (currently) including the Bucks twice, as well as single matches versus the Celtics (who are up 3-0) and Cavaliers.
Additionally, six of the other teams on the itinerary are fighting to get into the play-in so no easy contests punctuating why their closing strength of schedule is the second hardest.
Although I expect a playoff intensity I suspect the Bucks extend the streak but expect Philly to keep it close so I’ll take the points.
