Monday serves up a light menu with just five games on tap, including the Philadelphia 76ers traveling to Ohio to face the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Philly last played on Saturday in a 116-125 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Four 76ers scored in double figures, led by Tyrese Maxey with 31 points, five assists, and four steals. Quentin Grimes (26 points) and Kelly Oubre Jr. (24 points) also scored 20-plus.

It’s been a rough season for the 76ers to try and get their full complement of starters on the court. Paul George is serving a suspension, while Joel Embiid is in and out of the lineup with a myriad of injuries.

And now the two youngsters (Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe) are also suffering from injuries impacting their appearances.

The timing couldn’t be worse as the Sixers are trying to climb up the ladder but these injuries are causing them to plummet downward.

Here is my 76ers Cavaliers free pick.

Cleveland has been on a tear, winning 10 of 14; however, the four losses highlighted that perhaps the Cavs still have some tweaks to make as they fell to the powerhouses (OKC, Detroit, Boston).

The Cavaliers are the heavy favorites in this matchup, given how many of the stars are out for Philly. Look for Cleveland to try to regain their rhythm and winning ways versus the limping 76ers.

Cleveland is 3-7 versus the top of the East having lost to the Pistons and Celtics in the last week. Not exactly a rousing performance against the teams they’ll need to beat to win the Conference. 

Although I expect Cleveland to win and the Sixers are devastated by injury I still think they keep the score within reach so I’m taking the points.
