This game (and series) could get ugly early, although the Celtics have a propensity to cough up leads, seemingly getting bored once they get up by double digits.
The difference with this squad, however, is that the youngsters are dialed into Joe Mazzulla’s schemes. A perfect example of that was how the end-of-the-bench reserves walloped the Magic.
Clearly, not having Joel Embiid hurts the 76ers, but they have a quality group that features two snipers in Tyrese Maxey and Paul George, who are both capable of big scoring efforts.
Tatum has been stellar since returning for 16 games (Celts went 13-3), allowing Jaylen Brown to do more on the floor now that Tatum is there as his Robin. Tatum reached double-digit rebounding in 10 of his 16 outings.

Here is my 76ers Celtics free pick.
It sort of feels like the Celtics are experiencing the luck factor between Tatum’s early return and now getting to face the 76ers without Embiid.
Boston’s front court is where the most questions are, so Philly needs to try to stay competitive on the outside chance the big man can return before the series ends.
Clutch time could be a thing, as the 76ers are great in that timeframe (56.1%), but the question is whether Philly can even get Boston into the clutch.
The key for Boston will be trying to slow and limit Tyrese Maxey, who is a blur on the court. For the Sixers, they’ll need to limit the J’s or at least keep one of them in check.
Furthermore, Philly has to be careful of a perimeter outburst by Boston, particularly early in matches, as that only serves to open up the paint once adjustments are made.
There are plenty of youngsters on Boston’s side who could be x-factors, while the reality is this series hinges on whether Embiid can get healthy enough to make a return before the brooms come out.
I look to the Celtics to take Game 1, but think this will be the match where Philly keeps it closer than the spread.
