On Tuesday, February 8th, the Orlando Magic and Portland Trail Blazers will meet for the second and final time this season. The Blazers won the initial match on January 17th by a score of 98-88.
Orlando last played on Sunday losing 115-135 to the Grizzlies while the Blazers last played on Saturday losing 108-137 to the Bucks.
Last season, the teams played twice with Portland winning both contests and have a current 10-game win streak and haven’t lost to Orlando since January 13th, 2017.

As a young team there will be tough outings when nothing goes your way which is where the Magic found themselves on Sunday. The perimeter in particular was ice cold as Orlando shot 5 of 25 (or 20%) from long range versus the Celtics.
It was the second consecutive game the Magic got blown out by double-digits and followed a successful run where they won four of six matches.
Head coach Jamahl Mosley put things into perspective:

Mosley is trying to get his young group experience and in the loss it was rookie Jalen Suggs who led the way with 17 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Wendell Carter Jr. was the only other Magic player to register double-digit scoring with 14 points.
E’Twaun Moore (knee), Michael Carter-Williams (ankle), Jonathan Isaac (knee), Markelle Fultz (knee), and RJ Hampton (knee) are all out indefinitely.
Portland Trail Blazers
Two trades kickstarted what might be an active trade deadline this week with the Blazers and Clippers making a deal to start the weekend while the Pacers and Cavaliers closed the weekend with a deal.
In the case of the Blazers the new players arriving are Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, and Keon Johnson while Norman Powell and Robert Covington were sent to the Clippers.
Winslow was the only one of the trio who got minutes on Saturday as he logged 19:46 registering six points, seven rebounds and a block.
Portland made this initial move in an effort to shed Powell’s salary and open up flexibility so there is a belief more moves are coming. Presumably one of Eric Bledsoe or CJ McCollum will be moved or both but we’ll have to wait until Thursday to learn more.
Bledsoe (Achilles), Keon Johnson (ankle) and Larry Nance Jr. (knee) are all questionable, for Tuesday. Cody Zeller (knee surgery), Damian Lillard (abdominal surgery), and Nassir Little (shoulder) are all out indefinitely.

This match isn’t as cut and dry for the Blazers to win given the recent shifts to the roster and the Magic success prior to their last two games.
Even in the first meeting the score was within 10 points so it’s conceivable with the trade this could be more tightly contested match.
As per typical I stick to big trends and the big one here is the Blazers 10-game win streak versus Orlando so I’m counting on McCollum to his Blazers and keep that streak alive.
