Orlando and Oklahoma City come into Tuesday’s meeting with a combined 4-8 record. It’s been a down year for both teams but somebody has to get the win here. Oddsmakers favor OKC with the home court advantage.

The Magic have lost both their home games this season, and the Thunder come into Tuesday’s matchup with 2 days rest. Does that make Oklahoma City the play in this one?

Orlando Magic

Orlando has arguably more talent on the court in this game, but they have still gone just 2-4 on the season. It is early in the season though and the Eastern Conference is very bunched up with 4 games separating 1st and last place.

What has been so disappointing about the Magic talented roster is that they are the absolute worst scoring team in the league. Orlando has yet to even break 100 points in any of their six games this season.

Orlando and their trouble scoring the basketball would lead to an ‘under’ lean on the total. Oddsmakers have really submarined that number for Tuesday though, setting it at 204. The Magic have 5 ‘unders’ and a push on the year.

It’s not that Orlando is outright bad offensively, it’s just that they really slow down the pace. The Magic are last in the league at just 100.8 possesions per game. Then again the Magic are last in offensive efficiency.

Oklahoma City Thunder

If the Thunder can produce any offensive on Tuesday, they should be able to get the win as well as cover the -3.5 spread. OKC has scored 112+ in 3 of the last 4 games and should be fresh playing 4 of the last 5 at home.

One of the biggest scoring edges the Thunder will have in this one is their bench. OKC gets 39.0 points per game off their bench which is 13th in the league. Orlando ranks 23rd in that category.

It’s hard not to give OKC the lean in this one based on a talented trio of Shai Gilgeous Alexander (22+ in 4 of 6), Chris Paul (9 assists last game vs. Pelicans) and Danilo Gallinari (18.0 ppg on the season).

The reason OKC having a better offense gives them the edge here is because each defense is kind of a wash in this one. The Magic have a solid D, but the Thunder are very underrated ranking 4th allowing just 101.8 points per game.
