Tuesday, November 1st the Orlando Magic and OKC Thunder are playing the first of two scheduled matches this season. Orlando will host the second meeting on January 4th.
Orlando is on a quick two-game road trip having travelled to Dallas where they lost 105-114 on Sunday and they wrap up in OKC prior to heading home for a season-long seven game home stand.
Meanwhile, the Thunder delivered arguably the most productive week 2 of all 30 teams as they completed a perfect 3-0 result with an overtime victory (117-11) over the Mavericks.
The Thunder holds the all-time record between the clubs with 41 wins in 66 meetings. Last season, the clubs split the two-game series.
Orlando Magic
Although the record wouldn’t suggest it, this Magic squad is competitive and a really fun team to catch on NBA League Pass.
Of their five losses the Magic were in the matches and could easily have shifted at minimum three of those results in their favor but for a brief segment where the offense got stagnate.
Punctuating that point is they only score 105.6 points per 100 possessions which ranks 28th. In terms of their efficiency the Magic shoot 45.5 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from deep ranking 21st and 27th respectively.
Defensively, the Magic have made strides which again aren’t showing up in the win/loss column but the stats suggest it might not be much longer until they do.
Specifically, Orlando allows opponents to score 110.3 per 100 possessions which ranks 7th and they are forcing teams to work evidenced by the 44.4 percent opponents shoot from the field (6th) and 34.4 percent from the perimeter (14th)
Orlando limps into OKC sporting several members on their injury list including Jalen Suggs (ankle) and Cole Anthony (oblique) who are questionable to play Tuesday.
In addition, Mo Wagner (ankle), Markelle Fultz (toe), Jonathan Isaac (knee) and Gary Harris (knee) are all out indefinitely with no specified return date.
OKC Thunder
It was a stellar week for the Thunder who shocked LA fans by sweeping the baseball series against the Clippers. Granted Kawhi Leonard and Paul George missed the first game, but PG returned for the second and it didn’t matter.
But marching into Dallas and winning in overtime had front offices sitting up to take notice and no doubt send shivers down their spines at the prospect of Victor Wembanyama ending up in OKC alongside all that talent and length!
So – while the Thunder are currently on a three-game win streak don’t expect this to be the ongoing result this season.
They are steps ahead defensively allowing 111.3 points per 100 possessions ranking tied in 12th and opponents are shooting 46.3 percent from the field (tied 13th). They excel at perimeter defense though with rivals shooting 32.1 percent from deep with ranks 3rd.
In contrast, OKC is struggling on the offensive side of the floor scoring 112.3 per 100 possessions ranking 21st while shooting 43.7 percent from the field (27th) and 29.5 percent from deep which only ranks ahead of only the Lakers.
Josh Giddey (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday. Chet Holmgren (foot) is out for the season.

- Thunder are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games playing on 2 days rest.
- Magic are 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
- Thunder are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
Free Orlando Magic vs. OKC Thunder NBA Prediction:
These two clubs have a lot in common as they continue to rebuild and grow their assets. Both are improving defensively and struggling offensively but could be just one asset away from shifting their future.
This could be a bit of a trap game for the Thunder given so many of the Magic are out but I doubt injured Chet Holmgren will let them sleep on rookie Paolo Banchero being in the building so I’m picking the Thunder to win their fourth in a row!
