The Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers are two of the five remaining unbeaten clubs (Raptors, Rockets, Suns) in the seeding games. The Magic beat the Nets and Kings while the Pacers beat the 76ers and Wizards.
It’s the teams’ third meeting this season with the Pacers having won both matches.
Orlando Magic
To begin their eight seeding games the Magic faced the Nets who sat ahead of them in seventh. They swapped spots after Orlando won the match and now hold a half-game edge over Brooklyn.
Despite the two big wins the Magic suffered a huge loss when defensive stalwart Jonathan Isaac suffered a torn ACL.
Through two seeding games, the team who had issues scoring 100 points the majority of the season proved the theory that small sample sizes should be taken with a grain of salt. This because Orlando is averaging 130 points per game.
That offensive prowess will get tested as Orlando’s next four matches feature the Pacers, Raptors, 76ers, and Celtics. For the record that’s the sixth, second, seventh, and fifth-ranked defenses respectively.
If the Magic are still averaging anything close to 130 points per game after playing these four clubs then we’ll know the new-found offense is legit.
In the victory over Sacramento, Nicola Vucevic delivered a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds. Terrence Ross was the top point earner with 25 while Aaron Gordon (22), Markelle Fultz (14), Michael Carter-Williams (12), and DJ Augustin (10) were the other double-figure scorers.
High points in the match were 44 first-quarter points, 18 triples, and 31 assists.
Indiana Pacers
This game marks the second game of a back-to-back set for the Pacers who enter the match in fifth place one game ahead of the 76ers and one game behind the Heat (who they’ll play twice in Game 6 and Game 8).
In the victory over the 76ers, T.J. Warren put on an offensive exhibition scoring a career-high 53 points.
With the Pacers electing to rest Victor Oladipo on the front end of the back-to-back, Warren picked right up where he finished versus Philly by dropping a double-double of 34 points and 11 rebounds on the Wizards.
Malcolm Brogdon (20), Aaron Holiday (17) and, Myles Turner (17) were the other double-figure contributors.
Indiana continues on with two of their big men Domantas Sabonis (plantar fasciitis) and Goga Bitadze (knee) out with no definitive return date.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Magic are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
- Pacers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. NBA Southeast.
- Over is 11-5-1 in Pacers last 17 vs. NBA Southeast.
Free Orlando Magic vs. Indiana Pacers NBA Prediction:
Both clubs are eager to retain their unbeaten record and have designs on specific seeds. The Magic would hold steady but Indiana could make a move.
The Heat is also playing the second game of a back-to-back (versus a rested Celtics squad). Therefore a win by Indiana and loss by Miami would move the Pacers up to fourth.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Magic plus points
While the Magic have the advantage of rest, the loss of Isaac can’t help but take an emotional toll.
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
