Monday, November 25 finds the Orlando Magic facing the Detroit Pistons for the first time this season. Both clubs struggled this past week and neither club has collected a victory on the road yet.
Last season the teams played four times with the Pistons winning three of the four games. The Pistons hold the all-time record having bested the Magic in 63 of their 110 matches.
Orlando Magic
Remarkably this will be just the fifth road game the Magic play this season and that’s probably a good thing since they’ve yet to win on the road. They entered week five on a three-game winning streak but will be seeking to avoid a three-game losing streak today.

The match versus Indiana seemed to be in hand but the Magic fell apart in clutch time surrendering the victory to the Pacers. Although the Magic have struggled on the road and with their offense they boast numerous talents.
Jonathan Isaac is experiencing a breakthrough season posting career bests in scoring (13.4 points), rebounds (7.2), assists (1.7), steals (1.5) blocks (2.8) and 3-point efficiency (36.7%). He ranks second league wide for blocks and is tied for 19th in steals.
But, it’s Isaac’s defense which is his calling card and while his overall game is impressive he literally has become a lockdown defender.
The Markelle Fultz experiment also seems to be working with him capably scoring and defending in the starting rotation. Fultz is hitting career highs in scoring (10.8), assists (3.5), and steals (1.3).
Although his perimeter shot is a work in progress (20%) the youngster is demonstrating palpable growth. Specifically, his free throw shooting (82.8%) speaks to the improvements he’s made while his field goal percent (48.5%) and 2-point shots (56.6%) are more than acceptable.
In the loss to the Pacers, Evan Fournier led the way for the Magic with 26 points. Four others joined him with Fultz coming one assist shy (13 points, nine assists) from collecting a double-double.
Isaac also came one (rebound) shy of a double-double with his 25 points and nine boards. Terrence Ross and DJ Augustin each pitched in with 10 points.
Both Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon suffered ankle injuries in Toronto which kept them out of the Pacers match. Both will miss the Pistons game and Vucevic will be out long term given the severity of his sprain.
Michael Carter-Williams is sidelined with a left hip strain and remains out with no definitive return date.
Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons have lost six of their last seven games with the lone victory coming against the Atlanta Hawks.

Blake Griffin is being eased back into the lineup which meant he was rested in the Pistons last game versus the Bucks given it was a back to back.
Griffin is expected back in the lineup but the Pistons will watch his playing time as he continues to come back from his knee and hamstring issues.
In the loss to the Bucks four players collected double-figure scoring with Derrick Rose leading the way scoring 20 points while adding six assists and three rebounds. Andre Drummond collected yet another double-double of 12 points and 17 rebounds.
The other double-figure scorers were Langston Galloway (13) and Markieff Morris (11).
On the season Drummond is averaging a double-double of 18.5 points and 16.7 rebounds and unsurprisingly he leads the team in both categories as well as in field goal percentage (54.4 percent), steals (1.7) and blocks (1.9).
In fact the only category Drummond doesn’t hold the team lead in is assists where Luke Kennard (4.4) holds the honor.
Tony Snell missed the last three games with a hip strain and won’t play on Monday. Khyri Thomas broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot and will be out until the end of December mending from surgery to repair the fracture.
Reggie Jackson is recovering from a stress reaction in his lumbar spine area which will likely keep him off the court until the New Year.
