The Magic goes to Milwaukee on Saturday night to play the red-hot Bucks, who are on the second night of a back-to-back after winning in Dallas on Friday night.
Orlando got Markelle Fultz at the deadline but he isn’t ready to suit up yet, which means Orlando is down both he and Jonathan Simmons, who was sent to Philadelphia in the deal, as well as rookie Mo Bamba, who is out with a stress fracture.
In its last game against Minnesota, Orlando won by ten behind 54 percent shooting and well over 40 from three-point range. Terrence Ross dropped 32 off the bench and the trio of Nic Vucevic, Evan Fournier, and Aaron Gordon scored between 18 and 21 points.
The Magic is just 3.5 games behind Charlotte for the Southeast Division lead with Miami in-between the two. It won in Atlanta just a couple of weeks ago, 122–103, behind 58 points from Fournier and Vucevic, combined.
The two division foes still have three more meetings this season, including this game.
The Hawks are also in action on Saturday night but they get to host the Hornets and stay right at home to prepare themselves for this game.
Atlanta has played so much better than it did at the start of the season, nearly .500 ball, in fact, since mid-December. The Hawks still take their fair share of blowout losses, though.
Even just tracing back the most recent losses: vs. Toronto by 18, at Utah by 16, at Sacramento by 22, then the loss to the Magic in the second-to-last week in January.
On paper, the offense the defense are about equally as bad: 26th and 27th in the NBA, respectively. When you watch Atlanta, though, it can really hum on offense when Trae Young is looking to attack and Kevin Huerter is in the game. DeAndre Bembry has also shown playmaking ability on the wing.
Those flashes aren’t consistent enough yet but it’s coming along and that’s about all Hawks fans could have hoped would have happened this season. Two-Thirds of the way into the season, it’s been a successful year for the last-place Hawks.

Free Orlando Magic vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction: Orlando by a couple buckets.
While Atlanta can be explosive on offense, Orlando kind of is, at least a lot more often than Atlanta. I like the Magic’s offense to put up another 120 in Atlanta.
