2019-2020 NBA Previews – Magic Odds
Looking for 2019 Orlando Magic Predictions? Orlando made the playoffs for the first time in a long time last season. They were out quickly against Toronto but it was still a breakthrough. I am not sure they are much better this season but they could definitely qualify for the playoffs again.

Players Who Have Left
- C Timofey Mozgov
Players Who Have Arrived
- F Al-Farouq Aminu
- F Chuma Okeke
It had been seven years between playoff appearances but the Magic found something last season with new coach Steve Clifford so they are basically running back with the same group. Aminu is a veteran who should slide in easily as a defender.
Okeke is a great athlete who got hurt last year in the NCAAs. While I like his potential I am not sure about the fit here. He is kind of blocked in the frontcourt and does not have one great skills that translates. Other than athleticism.
Orlando Magic Strengths:
The strength of this team is up front. Nikola Vucevic is an all All-Star and one of the most consistent performers in the league. He might not fit the prototype of the modern big man but he is a 20/10 guys and there are not that many of those in the league.
Though I am not a fan I have to give credit to Aaron Gordon for becoming a useful player. I don’t think he is ever going to be become a star but if they can have some improvement around him he is not a bad third option. I wish he was a better defender though, for all that athleticism.

Terrence Ross can play the two or the three but more importantly he has evolved into one of the best three point shooters in the league. It has been an interesting evolution given his athleticism but he has become a good specialist for them.
The point guard position is not elite but the combination of DJ Augustin and Michael Carter-Williams is solid. They are never going to be big point getters but they know to give the ball to the playmakers.
This team has a strong defensive mindset and enough long athletes to be disruptive. Steve Clifford did not have a ton of success with Charlotte but what he is doing is working in Orlando.

Orlando Magic Weaknesses:
Though the PGs ar solid this is a perimeter oriented league and the Magic are not strong out there. That is not going to change this season unless Jonathan Isaac really becomes something and I fear he might have been a reach and will always struggle with health.
Orlando also lacks that one player who can just go and get a bucket when the team needs it the most. Gordon tries to be the guy but his handle is not tight enough and his range is not deep enough. Evan Fournier has moxie but you can live with his shots on defense. They need to find a strong finisher.
Orlando Magic Betting Prediction: 45-37
I am not expecting much improvement for Orlando this season but it seems like they are one of the few teams where continuity could be an advantage. That means they should be able to get off to a good start.
They are still not likely to be able to win a first round playoff series the way they are currently constructed. The gap between them and the top 3-4 in the Eastern Conference is still significant.
