This Monday night match-up will see the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Utah Jazz. These teams met way back in October, where the Jazz won 100-95.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder are having a modest season to say the least, but find themselves just half a game behind the Phoenix Suns for the 8th seed in the Western Conference. Not to say this will hold because we are still so early in the season, but the Thunder have shown some flashes of improvement with some of their younger talent.
Starting with the Thunder offense, they have clearly fallen off big time this year. This was expected because they lost both Paul George and Russell Westbrook. They are only scoring an average of 108.6, which ranks in the lower half of the NBA.
They are however shooting the ball at an average of 46.8% from the field. Believe it or not, but this ranks 8th in the league. Three-point shooting however, has been an issue as they are hitting just 35.2% of their shots.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the leading scorer for the Thunder, averaging 18.6 points per game. Danilo Gallinari is actually tied with 18.6 points per game as well. Then we see that Dennis Schroder averages 16 points per game and Chris Paul averages 15.8 points per game. Add in Steven Adams, who averages 11.1 per game and you have five guys who score 73.7% of their points.

The defense for the Thunder is average. They allow 109.1 points per game, 15th in the NBA. Teams shoot 45.9% against them from the field and 35% from the three-point line.
Plain and simple, the Thunder must stop Donovan Mitchell from having a huge game. They also need to limit second chance points because Utah have proven to be a solid rebounding team.
Utah Jazz
The Jazz finally snapped a three game losing streak when they beat the Memphis Grizzlies last time out by a score of 126-112. The good news for the Jazz is they are a very good home team. They are 9-2 when they play on their home court this season.
Utah has a bit of a lackluster offense to say the least. They are scoring an average of 106.6 points per game. This ranks 23rd in the NBA. The Jazz are only average at shooting the ball, coming in at 45.3% from the field. This ranks 15th in the league.
However, they are a very good three-point shooting team. Their shooting percentage from deep range is 38.4%, which is the fourth best in the NBA.
There is no question that the leading scorer for Utah is Donovan Mitchell. He is averaging 24.6 points per game. Right behind him is Bojan Bogdanovic, who averages 20.9 points per game. The third player Utah loves to get involved is Rudy Gobert. He is averaging a double-double with 14.2 points per game and a team leading 13.4 rebounds per game.
One key potential loss for Utah in the match-up will be Mike Conley. He has missed the last two games with “hamstring tightness” and is currently listed as questionable for this game. He is another played who averages double-digits and he also is one of their better defenders.

Defensively, the Jazz are among the best in the league. They are allowing 106.1 points per game, the 9th best mark in the league. They allow teams to shoot 44% from the field against them and 34.5% from the three-point line. Both of these percentages rank 9th as well in their respective categories.

Free Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Utah Jazz NBA Prediction:
These teams are very evenly match regardless of their current record. I do give Utah a slight edge because they are playing at home.
The Thunder have talent all over the court that I believe can go punch for punch with Utah. Laying around 8.5 feels like way too many with Utah, so I like the Thunder to cover in this game.
