Oklahoma City has started the season with back to back losses. They are playing Golden State on Sunday so odds are they add another one before heading to Houston.
The Rockets have split a couple of games and these teams will always be bound together as long as Russell Westbrook is with the Rockets.
Houston has high-end talent for sure but they have to figure out how to play together.
Oklahoma City Thunder
After a couple of games the Thunder are scoring just 90ppg. That is going to make it very hard to win in the current NBA.
They are scoring that figure even with second year guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander averaging 27ppg, an unsustainable level as far as I can tell.

In their last game, a loss to lowly Washington only two players even scored in double figures for OKC, SGA and fellow former Clipper Danilo Galinari.
Another former Clipper, Chris Paul, is not showing much. If they are going to trade him they need him to at least look like a player than can help a team win.
Steven Adams helps the Thunder set a defense that has played well, yielding just 98ppg, and he has bene strong on the boards averaging 12 per game. The only chance the Thunder have is to maintain that level of grinding.
I am not sure who can really step up on the scoring side. Maybe Dennis Schroeder if they just tell him to not worry about efficiency. It is kind of hard when your three best players all play the same position.
Oklahoma City is a mess and there are going to be some ugly games this season. This might be one.
Houston Rockets
So far the Westbrook/Harden experiment is 1-1. I have not seen the games though so this analysis is more reading through the numbers.

Westbrook is averaging a triple-double through so far. That is not anything new for him so it appears his game is not chafing too much.
The same cannot be said for Harden. His production is down across the board and his shooting has been terrible. Again, that could just be an early-season slump magnified by small sample size or it could be a sign that the duo can’t operate harmoniously.
The rest of the team seems to be operating as expected. Eric Gordon has not been shooting it great either but they have been getting production up front from Clint Capela and Danuel House Jr. might be emerging.

Even if Houston is not at its best yet this still looks like a win for the Rockets. Especially at home. Westbrook should be highly motivated too and that is a good thing.
Look for Harden to be willing to defer to him in this spot but after this game I expect he may have to exert a little more to get back to the level we expect from him.
