Dallas enters this contest coming off a big overtime win over the Brooklyn Nets, 129-125. That win brought the team back to 2-2 straight up and 3-1 against the spread.
Oklahoma City comes into this one having earned its first two victories in back-to-back fashion against the LA Clippers. The Thunder now sit at 2-3 straight up and 4-1 against the spread to start the new season.

A certain segment of OKC fans (and maybe a portion of the front office…) are pretty bummed about beating the Clippers twice in a row. Yes—LA was shorthanded and quite frankly the Clippers don’t seem to be taking the regular season seriously. But that’s a contender the Thunder were supposed to lose against in the chase for ping-pong balls, the No. 1 draft pick and, ultimately, Victory Wembanyama.
When the year is all said and done, though. this will be a team still leading the charge for the No. 1 pick. Those two early-season wins won’t derail an epic tank job, and quite frankly, establishing something…maybe anything of a winner culture at this stage is also important. It’s a positive culture that keeps young guys energized to play and develop their games without seeing notches in the wins column.
Against Dallas, you should see some of that energy, especially early. Two straight wins against a contender (not to mention your first two wins of the year) will do that.
On the season, the Thunder are averaging 111.4 points per game. That number puts them in the No. 19 spot across the league, current as of this writing Friday evening.
Defensively, OKC is giving back the same 111.4 points per game they’re earning themselves, which is good enough for 14th league-wide.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have sold out their season tickets for 2022-23, which is the first time the franchise has accomplished such a thing in a decade. Butts in seats won’t win games, but butts don’t get into seats at that capacity unless they believe they’re watching a contender.
