Saturday, November 5th the OKC Thunder and Milwaukee Bucks play the first of two scheduled matches this season. The Thunder will host the second contest next week (November 9th).
The Thunder last played Thursday in a losing 110-122 effort versus the Nuggets while the Bucks are playing a back-to-back set having defeated the Timberwolves 115-102 on Friday.
It’s the best start for the Bucks in franchise history as they remain the only unbeaten team in the association with an 8-0 record.
Last season, the teams played twice with the Bucks winning both contests. The Bucks hold the all-time record having bested the Thunder in 74 of their 147 matches.
OKC Thunder
The winning streak came to an abrupt end with the Nuggets in town although the Thunder didn’t concede easily with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivering yet another impressive performance.
The Canadian registered 37 points on a ridiculously effective 13 of 17 along with a perfect 11 of 11 from the charity stripe. SGA has only missed one free throw this season (51 of 52).
OKC looks to be close to taking a step up the ladder and one more season of tanking with some luck in the draft (like landing Victor Wembanyama) should put them right back into the mix for playoff berths.
On defense, the Thunder allow 112.3 points per game ranking 13th. Opponents are shooting 47 percent from the field (tied 19th).
The Thunder lost ground on the perimeter after a strong Nuggets showing where they hit 18 of 31 long balls (58.7%) moving OKC’s opponent average to 35.3 percent from deep sliding to 18th.
In contrast, OKC is struggling on the offensive side of the floor scoring 112.5 per game ranking 20th while shooting 44.7 percent from the field (tied 26th) and 28.6 percent from deep which only ranks ahead of the Lakers.
OKC is performing well in the turnover category on both sides of the court. They’re scoring 22.9 points off opponent miscues which ranks second best while they also protect the ball allowing the third-fewest (13.9) points off turnovers.
Aleksej Pokusevski (shoulder) is out Saturday. Chet Holmgren (foot) is out for the season following surgery to repair a Lisfranc fracture.
Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered a triple-double of 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 11 assists in the victory versus the T-Wolves.
The Bucks allow the fewest opponent points (102.0) per game and also hold opponents to the lowest field goal percentage (42.3%.) Opponents have a bit of leeway on the perimeter but the Bucks still rank top-10 with rivals shooting 34.0 percent from deep.
Offensively the Bucks are behind their typical standard scoring 113.3 points per 100 possessions (18th) while shooting 45.4% from the field (24th), and 32.5% from deep which ranks 26th.
Without Khris Middleton and Pat Connaughton Milwaukee is missing two of their best perimeter shooters who provide close to 30 points and five triples per match. Once they return to action it should equate to a more balanced two-way effort on the floor.
Sandro Mamukelashvili (concussion) is questionable for Saturday. AJ Green (nose), Pat Connaughton (calf), and Khris Middleton (wrist) are out indefinitely. Joe Ingles (ACL) is out until at least is mid-January.

Free OKC Thunder vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction
Luka Doncic sang the praises of Thunder defensive specialist Lu Dort, but the Canadian will need an army to help him stop Antetokounmpo.
It’s fair to say Milwaukee got one of the easier starting schedules facing teams still searching for chemistry or simply not as deep or talented. They don’t underestimate the ‘tankers’ and lock in defensively, specifically in clutch time.
Given how this early season has gone it wouldn’t be shocking if the team you least expect to end the Bucks streak is the one that catches them by surprise — like the Thunder who never give up and have the rest advantage.
Okay – so I considered it for a second — but nah — make it nine in a row.
