Saturday, the OKC Thunder and Dallas Mavericks tip off in Game 6 of the conference semi-finals. The Thunder need a victory to push the series back to OKC for a Game 7 while a victory by the Mavs would punch their ticket to the conference finals.

As expected the hobbled Luka Doncic stepped up just as he did in Game 5 of Round 1 delivering his best performance of the semi-finals. Doncic registered a 31-point, 10 rebounds, 11 assists triple-double en route to the victory.
Dallas won all the key categories but defense was the main killer as the Mavs won the battle of the glass 46 to 33. OKC did a good job in specific matchups limiting Kyrie Irving to 11 points and PJ Washington to 10 points.

Dallas ranked eighth offensively (117.0) and 18th in defensive rating (114.9) with a net differential of plus +2.1 that ranked 15th overall.
To this point in the playoffs, Dallas ranks seventh offensively (113.0) and sixth defensively (109.7) with a plus +3.4 net differential ranking fifth.

In the last preview, I noted that Doncic and Irving have the experience of rising to the occasion in big games (and Irving is due for one of those games). SGA doesn’t have the same experience but undoubtedly can do the same.
At the start of the season, I suggested the Thunder would shock many people and with their backs against the wall, I’ll bet on them to do it again.
