On Saturday, February 12th, the OKC Thunder are on the road to face the Chicago Bulls for the second and final time this season. In the initial match, the Bulls outlasted the Thunder 111- 110 on January 24th.
Both teams are playing the second game of a back-to-back set with the Thunder losing 87-100 to the 76ers while the Bulls defeated the Wolves 134-122 in the first games played on Friday.
Last season, the teams played twice splitting the season series with each winning at home. All-time the teams have played 152 and each has won on 76 occasions.
OKC Thunder
Although the Thunder battle in every match they are the youngest team in the association and as such they don’t have the clutch time gene yet. Similarly, they can find themselves falling behind early and then having to battle just to get back in the match.
Mark Daigneault’s squad never tosses in the towel which is a credit to his coaching and the character of the team but he’s still trying to break them of bad habits.
And in fairness, they simply don’t have the talent of the other teams so it’s inevitable the losses will pile up. ‘
I did notice there seems to be an uptick of “out indefinitely” on the injury report and it coincides with what happened last year when they invested in trying to get one of the bottom three records in order to land the best shot of the top draft pick in the lottery.
This week was rough with the Thunder facing three current playoff seeds – the Warriors, Raptors, and 76ers and losing to each of them. Not having Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is adding to their struggles but Lu Dort and Kenrich Williams are doing their best to lead the youngsters.
Aaron Wiggins (ankle) is questionable for Saturday. Isiah Roby (ankle), Mike Muscala (ankle), Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (foot), and KZ Okpala (wrist) are out indefinitely. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (ankle) will be out until after the All-Star break.
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls are doing their best to stay in the upper echelon while they await the return of Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, and Derrick Jones Jr Without those players it’s making it tough but they’re playing around .500 with a 7-6 record through their last 13 matches.
DeMar DeRozan has been spectacular and on a few occasions single-handedly pushed the Bulls to victory. After a brief two-game absence in his next 10 games, he’s averaged 32.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.1 steals.
The Bulls are 6-4 in those matches with tough losses to the Spurs, Raptors, 76ers, and Suns. They’ll enter this match on the second night of a back-to-back and play their third game in four nights
Derrick Jones Jr. (knee), Lonzo Ball (knee), and Alex Caruso (wrist) are out between six and eight weeks each. Patrick Williams (thumb) is out for the season.

OKC Thunder vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Analysis:
In the second game of back-to-back sets, Chicago is 7-5 while the Thunder have struggled in these situations posting a 1-7 record.
The 13 point spread might be a bit rich but the Bulls should capture the win easily.
