Streaks are on the line Wednesday, November 27 as Atlantic Division foes the New York Knicks play the Toronto Raptors in their first match against each other this season. The Knicks are on a three game losing streak and the Raptors are on a four game win streak and are unbeaten at home (7-0).
Last season, the Atlantic Division rivals played four times with the Raptors winning all four contests. The Raptors hold the all-time record having bested the Knicks in 52 of their 93 matches

The Knicks begin a four-game segment featuring last season’s (and arguably this season’s) top four Eastern Conference squads. It’s not like the schedule will get easier as the Nuggets and Pacers come next followed by 11 of their next 15 on the road.

For a club with a single road victory that might signal time to raise the white flag. The other thing to keep an eye on is whether Scott Perry and Steve Mills will elect to send some of the players out in trades as December 15th marks when teams can trade players signed in free agency.
On the season Marcus Morris Sr. is the leading scorer for the Knicks with 19.3 per game. Julius Randle tops the assists (3.8), rebounds (9.1) and field goal percentage (44.4%) while Frank Ntilikina (1.6) tops steals and Mitchell Robinson is the master of blocks with 2.1 per game.

Instead, it was the undermanned Raptors who sent the message. Toronto has held team’s stars well under their shooting averages such as LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Damian Lillard, and Luka Doncic. However, Joel Embiid got by far the worst treatment of all as he was held scoreless for the first time in his career.
Conversely, Pascal Siakam (25 points, 7 rebounds) and Fred VanVleet (24 points, 8 assists) proved they have taken the next step and are ready to be the closers.
Serge Ibaka (ankle) and Kyle Lowry (thumb) have each missed eight games and neither will be back on Wednesday though both are expected back no later than December 1st.
Matt Thomas (broken finger) joins the list of walking wounded and will be out until close to the New Year. Patrick McCaw (knee) and Stanley Johnson (groin) are also expected back early December.

Historically these teams battle and with Barrett in the mix this could be a trap game. Still, expect the Raptors to stay unbeaten at home but I’m hedging for the Knicks to keep things close.
