Wednesday, October 30 finds the New York Knicks meeting the Orlando Magic for the first time this 2019-20 season.
Last season, the squads played four times with the Magic winning three of the four contests. The Magic holds the all-time record having bested the Knicks 59 of their 114 matches.
New York Knicks
It took four tries but the Knicks finally registered their first victory of the season. The victim was the Chicago Bulls who ended up having to pay for the revenge of Bobby Portis who took over in the second half.

Portis had struggled through three games scoring 18 cumulative points. But facing his former team the forward was inspired posting a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds.
With Dennis Smith Jr. away from the team dealing with a death in the family the Knicks had to figure out who would be tasked with handling the point guard duties.
None of the trio of Smith Jr., Frank Ntilikina or Elfrid Payton had stepped up to claim the role and much of the offensive issues are tied to a lack of ball movement. Payton got the tap to start but had to leave the game after aggravating his hamstring.
RJ Barrett stepped up to help with ballhandling and was pivotal in the victory. He scored 19 points, grabbed a massive 15 rebounds and dished five assists. Barrett is the first rookie to post 15 points, 15 boards, and 5 assists since 1974 (Bill Walton).
Kadeem Allen (knee) has yet to play and is questionable against the Magic. Smith (personal) is doubtful while Payton (hamstring) and Reggie Bullock (neck) are definitely out.
Orlando Magic
The record of the Magic isn’t indicative of their effort through four contests although the offense is taking a bit to click.

it was a tale of Jekyll and Hyde for two of the Magic big man in Toronto. Nikola Vucevic struggled (1 of 13) just like he did against the Raptors in the playoffs and it resulted in his benching late in the match.
Conversely, Jonathan Isaac was effective on both sides of the court with his offense finally clicking in Toronto. Isaac scored a team-high 24 points connecting on five of his seven 3-point attempts and also registered two impressive blocks.
The Markelle Fultz reclamation project continues as he scored a season-high 13 points and his shot looks much improved.
Unfortunately, he’ll end up on a few gifs after Fred VanVleet’s step back sent him stumbling to the court but overall his confidence is growing and his height is definitely causing problems for opposing defenses.
Chuma Okeke is out for the season rehabbing a torn ACL.
