The Knicks seem content losing out the 2018/19 regular season and securing the best chances at the #1 pick for this Springs’ draft. New York had actually strung a couple good games together, but that fleeting moment has passed as the team has now dropped six in a row and their 13-54 record is 3 games worse than the nearest “competition.”

Indiana definitely needs Tuesday’s contest more as they currently sit in the 4 seed in the East which would mean home court in the 1st round of the playoffs. Boston is just 1GB from that spot however and the Pacers are eager to snap a two game losing streak.

New York Knicks

The Knicks goal lately is to slow down the pace. The result has been some very low scoring games and New York hasn’t eclipsed 100 points in the last three games. Their defense has also been solid in that formula, holding three opponents in a row to under 107 points.

New York’s tendency to get into low scoring contests is the major reason why Tuesday’s total is just 212. The Pacers don’t exactly push the pace either while also relying on their defense so this game might not even break 200 total points.

The Knicks do have some depth, but all that’s really done lately is keep players from getting any momentum going. Deandre Jordan logged just 15 minutes Sunday vs. the Timberwolves and three other starters played less than 29 minutes.

The Knicks have gone 0-3 vs. the Pacers this season, the most recent contest being a 106-121 loss back in January. New York also fell by 11 in December and by just 6 back in late October. The Knicks are probably going to lose on Tuesday, but is the 12 point spread too many points?

Indiana Pacers

The Pacers are trying to hold off Boston for the 4 seed but have dropped two straight games coming into Tuesday night’s contest. Indiana has also been held to under 100 points the last two games although somewhat understandably with road games in Philadelphia and at Milwaukee.

Only one Indiana player scored more than 14 points last game and that was Bojan Bogdanovic with 18. On Thursday vs. MIlwaukee Myles Turner had a productive outing with 22 points and 7 rebounds but overall the inconsistency makes them a dangerous wager on Tuesday.
