Golden State has the rest advantage with the Knicks being on a back-to-back. New York is 2-3 on the back side of these sets, and this is the first time they’ll be on the road for one.
The Knicks haven’t looked sharp lately, losing six of their last eight contests, so that bodes well for Golden State. Moreover, New York scores much more easily at home and, based on the stats defend better at MSG too (differential is plus 9.4 at home and minus 1.4 on the road per John Schuhmann).
While the Warriors are playing better they still need to add depth and upgrade their talent if they want to be considered a bonafide finals contender. If things remain status quo they are likely looking at a play-in seed, so expect Mike Dunleavy to be actively seeking upgrades by the trade deadline.
Karl-Anthony Towns, in particular, is struggling by his standards. Although the numbers look decent, his efficiency isn’t great, and defensively, he’s been subpar.
To that end, I don’t expect the Knicks or Towns to fix things overnight, plus Brunson is questionable, so I’ll take the Warriors to win and cover.
