Two downtrodden teams meet up in the desert Thursday in a game only a bettor can love. Together these two squads are a combined 4-16 as their long nightmare of a regular season comes to a close.
The Suns definitely have incentive to lose as their 18-61 record is 2nd worst in the league and they are just one loss “better” than Cleveland at 19-59. Does that alone make the Pelicans the play in this one?

The Pelicans have also played their last five games at home and now must go on the road for two of their three remaining games. New Orleans is just 13-26 on the road this season.
New Orleans is also well out of the #1 draft pick spot with a 32-47 record. They are in “NBA Hell” so to speak but should be getting a windfall if they move Anthony Davis this offseason.

Speaking of Davis, he’ll likely be restricted or sit out altogether as he has in 5 of 6 with a back injury. The Pelicans have had a hard time finding offense lately, being held to 102 points or less in 3 of 6.
The Pelicans still have some capable players to get this W especially if Julius Randle takes the court. He left the Lakers game last week with a finger injury but came back on Wednesday vs. the Hornets with 34 points and 11 rebounds.

Besides their offense, the Pelicans defense has also seen their share of woes lately. New Orleans has allowed 130+ points in 2 of the last 4 and overall have given up 120+ in 6 of 10. The O/U for this one should be in the mid 220s when released.
Phoenix Suns
It’s no secret what Phoenix’ game plan is going to be on Friday – give the ball to Devin Booker and watch with awe. Well, that was the case until Booker injured his ankle vs. Utah and will miss the rest of the season.
The Suns have a lot of offense to replace as Booker had gone for 48+ points in 3 of 4 games prior. De’Andre Ayton could also miss the Pelicans game with an ankle injury so maybe it’s not so fast on that ‘over’ call.

Phoenix had lost 7 of 8 even with Booker in the lineup. They did beat Cleveland on Monday, but before that the Suns’ last win came March 16th vs. these Pelicans. That 138-136 Suns win did come in OT, and Phoenix will also be missing 80 points from that game as Booker, Ayton, and Kelly Oubre, Jr. will all miss Friday’s rematch.
