Neither of these teams is any good but I still think they are kind of interesting.
The Pelicans are so young and Zion has not played yet. It is interesting to see how all the pieces could or will fit together.
For OKC they are interesting to watch because of their odd construction that seems to have to lead to a trade…but when?
New Orleans Pelicans
Zion Williamson has yet to play this season but the Pelicans will be missing some actual contributors too. Lonzo Ball has a virus and Derrick Favors is out.
No Favors opens up playing time for rookie Jaxson Hayes but the team is not expecting too much from him. Nor from backup center Jahlil Okafor.

Brandon Ingram can play as a leading scorer as long as he can keep up his three point shooting. Right now he is at 42%. If that drops significantly then he is much easier to guard.
Jrue Holiday is not having a great season but he is getting more productive the deeper we get. I think he might have been struggling with all of the change.
JJ Reddick is aging well. He is making almost 50% of his threes and you have to wonder if he is too much of a luxury on a team not going anywhere.
New Orleans gets next to nothing inside right now. It is so much different than when they had Anthony Davis and Julius Randle.
Oklahoma City Thunder
OKC has a couple of recent wins against the Warriors but that is not saying much these days. They are off a loss at Portland which was pretty bad.

They gave up 136 points to the Blazers and this is a team that has to play defense to have any chance. They are not blessed with great offense this season.
Abdel Nader was the leading scorer against Portland and I have liked his game since his days at Iowa State. He is tough and skilled enough to do some things on the court. He is not a leading scorer type though, more a young PJ Tucker type, maybe. (Sorry PJ).
These teams are playing back to back so OKC gets the chance to get a win at home before having to defend at New Orleans. The Pels have more talent but the Thunder and the grittier, more grizzled group.
