That the Pelicans are winning with him in the mix isn’t surprising as it’s why they selected him first overall last summer with visions of him being the type of generational talent that could lead the Pelicans to championships.
To that end, New Orleans has won four out of five games and have their sights set on stringing together a win streak that would help them erase the four games they trail the Grizzlies by for that eighth and final playoff berth.
In their first game back from the break they beat the Blazers 128-115. Josh Hart delivered a double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds while Jrue Holiday (20), Brandon Ingram (16), Lonzo Ball (15) and Nicolo Melli (13) all figured in the balanced attack.
On the season, Brandon Ingram leads the team scoring (24.7) and field goal percent (47.5%). Lonzo Ball leads assists (6.8) and steals (1.3), Josh Hart for rebounds (6.5) and Jaxson Hayes tops the block (1.0) category.
Kenrich Williams has missed copious games due to lower back soreness with a projected return date of early March. Darius Miller is out for the season as he continues to recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Golden State Warriors
The Warriors are on a five-game losing streak and came out of the break getting served a beat down courtesy of the Rockets.
The Dubs are in full-on tank mode hoping to land the top draft pick this summer to put beside the talents of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins.
In the loss to the Rockets Andrew Wiggins topped his team’s scoring with 22 points. Each of Jordan Poole (19), Damion Lee (13), Eric Paschall (12), Marquese Chriss (10), and Juan Toscano-Anderson (10) provided double-digit efforts.
For now, the Warriors will continue their auditioning process of the youngsters and will add Dragan Bender to a 10-day contract as he is released by the Bucks to make room for Marvin Williams.
On the season, newly acquired Andrew Wiggins leads a slew of categories including scoring (22.8), field goal percentage (57.9%),.blocks (1.8) and steals (2.0). Stephen Curry is the assists leader with 6.5 and Draymond Green offers the most rebounds (6.3).
Marquese Chriss has a sore calf making him uncertain for this match. Draymond Green (pelvis) is out. Stephen Curry (hand) is expecte out until March and Klay Thompson (knee) will miss the season.
