*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, Sunday, evening, March 26th. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Monday, March 27th.
Minnesota Timberwolves
It was a HUGE win for the Wolves on Sunday as they capitalized on turnovers late in the match. What stood out is the defensive effort Minny brought to the court.
Early in the season, the pairing of Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert didn’t mesh but it’s looked good since KAT returned from his long injury absence.
Stats
Minnesota opponents score 116.3 points per game ranking 20th while the Wolves limit them to 47.2% from the field and 37.3% from deep ranking 15th and 26th respectively.
On offense, the Wolves score 116.1 points per game ranking 11th while shooting 49.2% from the field and 36.1% from the perimeter ranking third and 15th respectively.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Karl-Anthony Towns C (questionable — calf)
- Anthony Edwards SG (questionable — illness)
- Jaylen Nowell SG (questionable — knee)
- Jordan McLaughlin, PG (upgraded to probable —illness)
Sacramento Kings
The playoff curse could be over with a win tonight or if the Clippers or Suns lose. Let’s just book it as there is no way Sacramento loses out and LA/Phoenix win out.
What is left to be decided, however, is whether the Kings will be the second or third seed.
Either way the beam is sure to get some playoff action and Kings fans are finally going to get to experience postseason play for the first time in 17 years!
Sacramento has fallen two games back of the Grizzlies for the second seed and has eight games remaining to try to make up that difference. Things would get tricky if they tied Memphis since the teams split the regular season series 2-2 and both clubs lead their division.
That would require a third-level tiebreak which would favor the Grizz since its division won/lost records and Memphis has the far better record in that area.
Stats
Presently, offensively, the Kings are among the very best in the association with the highest scoring output averaging 121.1 points per game. Similarly, they perform well in the proficiency areas registering 49.7% from the field and 37.4% from deep ranking second and eighth overall.
On the negative side, Sacramento ranks 26th in opponent scoring allowing 118.5 points per game while foes shoot 49.4% from the field and 37.2% from the perimeter ranking 29th and 23rd respectively.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- De’Aaron Fox PG (questionable – hamstring)

Free Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction:
Sacramento has the rest advantage while the Wolves appear to be hitting the perfect stride down the stretch. Minny is 7-5 in the second games of back-to-backs but is 5-1 in those outings since the calendar turn.
The team that controls pace will have the advantage as the Kings will look to push a speedy track meet while the Wolves will try to slow the pace and bottle up Sacramento in transition.
Since they expended so much energy on Sunday I’m banking on the Kings’ fresh legs winning that battle and lighting a special ‘we broke the curse’ beam into the night sky.
