The pivotal Game 5 between the seventh-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves, and second-seeded Memphis Grizzlies tips off on Tuesday, April 26th. With the Timberwolves’ 119-118 victory on Saturday this series shifts to a best of three.
The teams split their four games this season with Memphis winning on November 8th (125-118) in overtime and January 13th (116-108) while Minnesota won the November 20th (138-95) and February 24th (119-114) matches.
Minnesota owns the slim one-game (51 wins) edge all-time of the 101 regular-season matches played. This series marks the first time the franchises are playing in the postseason.
Minnesota Timberwolves
In his first playoff series and in spite of nursing a sore knee Anthony Edwards has impressed with his sheer talent and having no fear of the spotlight.
The sophomore has been the most consistent Wolves’ performer offering 24 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocks in Game 4.
In contrast star, Karl-Anthony Towns has vacillated between terrible and spectacular performances in the series bouncing back with a double-double of 33 points and 14 rebounds.
All five starters scored in double-figures including Patrick Beverley (17), Jarred Vanderbilt (12), (23), and D’Angelo Russell (10), along with reserve Jordan McLaughlin who scored 16.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies were seething after their loss in Minnesota with the usually composed head coach Tayler Jenkins blasting the league for how the game was officiated.
"In my opinion one of the most poorly officiated games I've ever seen in my NBA career."

Jenkins called the officiating inconsistent and embarrassing suggesting the officials were arrogant and noted there was one foul where the whistle was blown BEFORE contact was made.
Officiating has been a bone of contention with many players and teams this postseason. And while every fan base is going to side with their team this season and these playoffs have served up some brutally called matches with evidence on film that many have a reason to be sour.
Case in point, every single starter for the Grizzlies was in jeopardy of fouling out with Morant the low man collecting four of the starters’ 25 fouls and 33 as a team whereas the Wolves’ starters collected 16 of the Wolves’ 23 total fouls.
Adding fuel to Jenkins’ argument was the Grizzlies were the team living in the paint scoring 50 points there while Minnesota had 30. His players have his back though, as Morant and Dillon Brooks offered to help pay whatever inevitable fine is coming their coach’s way.
Killian Tillie (back) and Santi Aldama (knee) are questionable for Tuesday.

Free Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Memphis Grizzlies NBA Prediction:
These are two young exciting teams filled with talent and rising stars which were punctuated by the news Ja Morant won the Most Improved Player award and two others ranked in the top 10 of votes received including Desmond Bane (5th) and Jaren Jackson Jr. (10th).
Although Jenkins conceded the need for his players to be more disciplined don’t expect the Grizzlies to be less aggressive. After all the venue may be called the FedExForum but it’s known to fans as the Grind House.
Expect Memphis to hit first in Game 5 as they seek to regain control in the series.
