They warned us about getting too excited about Andrew Wiggins’ hot start and after a tremendous first month or thereabouts, he has gradually settled back into the talented but inconsistent and flawed Wiggins that has tortured Minnesota fans for almost six years now.
Since missing four games after Christmas and into the New Year, Wiggins has just one twenty-point game in six and has thirty-one points in his last three games, combined.
He shot four-of-thirteen in Minnesota’s 104–99 home loss to Indiana on Wednesday. Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon combined for fifty points in that one.
Karl-Anthony Towns remains out of the lineup and hasn’t played in over a month now. He went out in the middle of a seven-game losing streak, which hit eleven before it ended. Since, Minnesota is 5–6 after losing its last three.
Indiana has won its last three and it has been aided in the last two by the return of Malcolm Brogdon, who has scored twenty-one points in each of his two games since returning and has fifteen assists, too.
Uncle Moses did miss a free throw but he still leads the NBA at .923. His return has solidified the Pacers’ bench, which now features both Holiday brothers, TJ McConnell and Doug McDermott.
The Pacers will try to sweep the back-to-back against the T’Wolves before embarking on a week-long West Coast swing that begins in Denver and ends in Portland.
They will have the return of Victor Oladipo to look forward to when they get back home, though. Indiana has announced the all-star is planning on making his return from that gruesome leg injury a year ago on January 29 against the Bulls.
The date makes sense, as its at home and against a weaker opponent, with two days off before the Pacers’ next game on February 1.
Indiana is constantly flying under the radar but for the few days leading up to and after Oladipo’s return, no team will be more interesting to watch than Indy.

Free Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Indiana Pacers NBA Prediction: Pacers but perhaps not by enough.
The Wolves are going to fight hard for payback. The Pacers may be hard-pressed to cover anything bigger than four or five.
This handicapper would consider firing something small on Indiana as a three or a four-point favorite or, more likely, on Minnesota getting at least six-and-a-half or seven.
