Free Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets NBA Prediction:
Sunday, February 23rd finds Northwest Division foes the Minnesota Timberwolves facing and Denver Nuggets meeting for the fourth and final time this regular season. Denver won all three previous games occurring on November 10th (100-98), December 20th (109-100) and January 20th (107-100).
The Nuggets will attempt to make it a clean sweep on Sunday and build their current seven game win streak versus the Wolves to eight in a row.
Last season, the teams played four times with Denver sweeping the series. The Nuggets holds the all-time record having bested the Timberwolves in 80 of their 129 matches
Minnesota Timberwolves
Just as Karl-Anthony Towns got what he wanted with the trade to bring his good friend D’Angelo Russell to Minnesota he was hit with bad news courtesy of a wrist injury that will keep him out of the lineup at least until early March.

At this point, the best bet for the Wolves is to exert their efforts into tanking with a secondary focus of developing chemistry among the horde of new players obtained at the trade deadline.
In their first game back from the break the Wolves lost 127-117 to the Boston Celtics. D’Angelo Russell delivered a double-double of 18 points and 13 assists while Malik Beasley who has shined with the extra playing time led the scoring with 27 points.
In fact, the offense won’t be the issue with this revamped squad as each of Naz Reid (19), Juan Hernangomez (17), Jordan McLaughlin (11) and Josh Okogie (10) each put up double-figure scoring efforts.
On the season Karl-Anthony Towns leads scoring (26.5), rebounds (10.7) and field goal percentage (50.8%). D’Angelo Russell tops assists (9.7) while James Johnson is tops in the hustle categories with 1.7 steals and 2.0 blocks.
Jaylen Nowell missed the last game due to illness and is questionable for Sunday. D’Angelo Russell will be given the day off to rest his sore knee.
Karl-Anthony Towns is expected out until early March while Jake Layman (toe) and Evan Turner (uncertainty over future with team) will also both miss this match.
Denver Nuggets
All season the Nuggets have done a great job of avoiding extended losing streaks. In fact, they’ve only lost back-to-back games on four occasions to date.
The fourth occasion occurred with the pre-break loss to the Lakers and first game back from the break when they lost 113-101 to the Thunder on Friday.
In the loss to the Thunder, no one could blame Nikola Jokic who did his best to keep his team in the mix. The Joker registered 32 points, five assists, and seven rebounds.
Jamal Murray also kept his hot streak alive with 24 points along with four assists and six rebounds. The only other double-figure scorer was Will Barton with 16 points (and nine rebounds).
Nikola Jokic leads four main categories with 20.8 points 6.9 assists, 10.2 rebounds, and 52.3% percent field goal percentage. The hustle categories are led by Jamal Murray for steals (1.4) and Jerami Grant for blocks (0.7).
Denver began the stretch run with their core healthy and only Bol Bol (foot) remains out indefinitely.
NBA Betting Trends:
- The Nuggets are 8-2 in last 10 head to head
- The teams are 5-5 ATS in their last 10
- Over Under is 3-7 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups.
