Wednesday night NBA action will see the Minnesota Timberwolves take on the Chicago Bulls. These teams met back in December, which saw the Timberwolves win 119-94. Minnesota will now be looking for the season sweep.
Both teams are still in rebuild mode, so making the playoffs will be very unlikely.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves are in a funk right now, losing their sixth game in a row last time out to the Denver Nuggets. The final score to this game was 107-100.
Offensively, the Timberwolves are right smack in the middle of the league, averaging 111.1 points per game. However, their shooting woes have only increased. They average 43.2% from the field, the second worst in the NBA. Three-point shooting is not any better, as they average 32.4%, also the second worst in the league.
Rebounding has been their strength this season, averaging 46.1 boards per game. This is the 6th best in the NBA. Karl-Anthony Towns is back and is averaging 26 points per game. Andrew Wiggins is averaging 22.4 points per game. Besides these two guys, no one else averages more than 13 points.

Defensively, the Timberwolves are struggling, allowing 114.6 points per game. During their six-game losing streak, they have allowed 119 points per game.
While Minnesota is a good rebounding team, they are very bad at allowing rebounds. They allow an average of 48.3 boards per game, ranking 29th in this category.
The key for the Timberwolves is going to be slowing down Zach LaVine. He is the backbone of Chicago, so if he is held in check, the Wolves will have a good chance to win.
Chicago Bulls
The Bulls lost their last game to the Bucks by a score of 111-98. A last second basket and foul allowed them to cover the double-digit spread. They still are out of playoff contention, but they are slowing some flashes of improvement.
Unfortunately, their offense has not been up to par this season. Only averaging 105.7 points game comes in as the 25th ranked scoring offense in the league.
Zach LaVine continues to be the lead scoring threat for the Bulls. His average is 25 points per game and he just had 24 against Milwaukee in the last game. Lauri Markkanen is second in scoring, averaging 14.9 points per game.
Wendell Carter Jr is still out and will not be expected back until late February.
Defensively, the Bulls are much more sound, allowing just 107.8 points per game. This is the 10th best scoring defense in the NBA. Teams do shoot 46.5% from the field, but only 34.4% from the three-point line.
Someone else for Chicago needs to step up because LaVine is not going to be able to do it on his own. Markkanen must slow down Towns in the post or the Wolves will be scoring at will.

Even though Minnesota is struggling right now, I like how they match up with this Chicago team. That being said, I will take the Timberwolves to snap their losing streak with a road win.
