The top two teams in the Eastern Conference face off Thursday, January 31 with much on the line. The Bucks defeating the Pistons 115-105 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Raptors beat Dallas on Sunday.
Last year the teams played three times with the Raptors taking two while the Bucks are up 2-1 this year. The Bucks hold the all-time record having bested the Raptors in 50 of their 88 matches.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is having a great couple weeks. First, he found out he’ll be the captain of the Eastern All-Star team. Then it was announced he won the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for week 15 of action.
This despite having a tough game in Oklahoma City where the Thunder held him to no made field goals (six attempts) in the first half which is the fewest for Antetokounmpo in over three years. The Thunder also blocked him seven times which is the most blocks on any one player this season.
He rebounded by leading his Bucks to a victory over Detroit and coming up just two assists shy of a triple-double finishing with 21 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds.
Three Bucks missed the last game due to injury but are all expected to play on Thursday: Eric Bledsoe (right thumb sprain), Sterling Brown (right wrist contusion) and Malcolm Brogdon (sternal contusion).
Donte DiVincenzo (bursitis in his left heel) hasn’t played in the past five games and isn’t expected to suit up Thursday.
Despite pundits citing the Raptors recent mediocre play it should be noted they are still 7-3 in their last 10 games with the losses decided by six points or less and all in crunch time.
Kawhi Leonard has scored 20 points in 22 consecutive games. If he accomplishes this against the Bucks he’ll tie Vince Carter on the All-Time Raptors record list.
Leonard led the Raptors in the win in Dallas with 33 points and 10 rebounds. While the Raptors had been struggling from the perimeter they’ve discovered their range in the past week moving up six spots in the team rankings to 18th overall.
One of Kyle Lowry or Kawhi Leonard weren’t on the court in eight of Toronto’s games in January but are now both healthy and will look to build their chemistry heading into the spring.
Jonas Valanciunas (surgery to repair a dislocated left thumb) has returned to practice but won’t return to game action until mid-February.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Raptors are 6-4 in last 10 head to head contests
- Teams are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 head to head meetings
- The over-under is 6-4 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
Toronto climbed six spots in 3-point efficiency in one week which might bode well for them as the Bucks allow teams to shoot the 21st best perimeter efficiency.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Raptors ATS as perimeter heats up
No doubt the Raptors will be reviewing the Thunder game film and should be able to put similar athletic, lengthy defenders on Antetokounmpo.
