With the Milwaukee Bucks and Orlando Magic knotted at a game apiece the teams’ tip-off early Saturday to determine who’ll take the early series edge. In the regular season, the Bucks swept the Magic.
Milwaukee Bucks
It took the shocking game one loss to wake up the Bucks that and a concerted MVP type effort from Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak produced a double-double of 28 points and 20 rebounds.
It was the first 20-20 game of the franchise since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar registered the marker.
While the Bucks more closely resembled the team who finished first in the league and delivered a much better effort there are still some concerns.
Specifically, the defense and the Bucks player tapped as the secondary option – Khris Middleton.
Defensively, while Milwaukee did shut down the paint (24 points) they leave the perimeter open and the Magic are getting wide-open looks.
Middleton is struggling in the bubble. In this contest, he scored only two points going one of eight from the field. It’s hard to say what’s more concerning — that he’s shooting so poorly or that he only took eight shots.
Through two games Middleton is shooting 5 for 20 from the field.
Orlando Magic
In Game 2, the Magic got the full Bucks experience, as Milwaukee was focused and playing with more desperation. Nikola Vucevic, however, continued to feast.
As good as Brook Lopez has played defensively this season he’s a different type of defender than Marc Gasol for example seemingly is Vucevic’s nemesis.
The Orlando big man put up another double-double of 32 points and 10 rebounds. James Ennis III came two points short (eight points, 10 rebounds) of joining him with his own double-double.
Terrence Ross (12), Evan Fournier (12), Markelle Fultz (11) and D.J. Augustin (10) were the other Orlando double-figure scoring contributors.
Orlando is missing two main defenders in Aaron Gordon (hamstring) and Michael Carter-Williams (strained foot tendon).
They are both listed as out indefinitely but coach Steve Clifford said Gordon is getting close to a return which is big because he’d be the primary defender on Antetokounmpo.
Orlando is already dealing with the loss of Jonathan Isaac (torn ACL) and Mo Bamba (post COVID-19 issues) so getting back a few bodies would certainly help.
NBA Betting Trends:
- MIL are 11-2 ATS in their last 13 Sat. games.

- Over is 8-3 in ORL last 11 games as an underdog.
Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Orlando Magic NBA Prediction:
Orlando won Game 1 last season and then lost four straight to the Raptors while the Bucks lost Game 1 of round two prior to posting a gentleman’s sweep of the Celtics.
There are certain similarities to those series but while Milwaukee should still be the favorite they need to get Vucevic under control because they can’t allow him to score 30 every game plus leave the perimeter wide open hoping the Magic will miss more than they make.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Magic +12
The Bucks have more pressure on them to win this game than the Magic. Orlando is missing stars and isn’t expected to win. Milwaukee, on the other hand, would be put directly in the spotlight if they fall behind again in the series. And, uh Khris Middleton — the playoffs started!
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
