The second round of the playoffs is off to a crazy start with the top two teams in basketball both losing their initial two games to fall 0-2 in the best of 7 games series.
Much like the Raptors the Bucks were in the second game of the series throughout but couldn’t close out the fourth quarter and then the officials made interesting calls on both sides of the floor with the winning basket coming courtesy of Jimmy Butler at the free-throw line.
Milwaukee Bucks
Winning four of the next five games is the challenge the Milwaukee Bucks face if they want to return to the Eastern Conference Finals. They know it’s possible because they held a 2-0 series lead over the defending champion Raptors last season and then got swept four straight.
The issue for the Bucks is figuring out how to score in the half-court and closing out games. Giannis Antetokounmpo seems to be suffering from confidence issues which is showing up specifically at the free-throw line.
I’ve touched on this previously, but something that got lost in the mix this season was Milwaukee played a good deal more than half their games without the opponent’s top star(s) playing. Case in point, Jimmy Butler only played in one of the three meetings this season and the Heat still won the series 2-1.
Milwaukee lost the opening quarter 38-29 and while they won the next three quarters it wasn’t enough to catch the Heat. Antetokounmpo led the way with a double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds. Khris Middleton (23), Eric Bledsoe (16), Brook Lopez (16), and George Hill (14) were the other double-figure contributors.
Miami Heat
.This win came in a completely different manner than Game 1 with Jimmy Butler factoring less in scoring and more as a playmaker while Bam Adebayo was a beast defensively on Antetokounmpo.
Still, it was Butler who iced the game at the line. Moving forward, something to keep an eye on is Butler’s has dealt with a myriad of injuries over the years so games every other day will take a toll. The longer the series lasts the more of a factor that will become.
All five Heat starters as well as Tyler Herro and Kelly Olynyk scored in double-figures with Goran Dragic (23) leading the way.
Andre Iguodala (ankle) and Kelly Olynyk (knee) suffered injury in the last game making them questionable for Friday as is Gabe Vincent (shoulder).

Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Miami Heat NBA Prediction:
Coach Budenholzer doesn’t like to veer away from what got them the top seed and best regular-season defense. However, Miami had five players score three of more 3-pointers so he’s going to need to adjust his defensive scheme to extend to the perimeter if the Bucks want to win.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Bucks -5
This is a must-win for the Bucks who can ill afford to go down 0-3 in the series. Game three will be all about heart and desire.
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
