On Saturday, March 26th, the Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies play the second and final match this season. The Bucks won 126-114 in the initial meeting on January 19th.
Both teams last played Thursday with the Bucks defeating the Wizards 114-102 while the Grizzlies confirmed their playoff berth beating the Pacers 133-103.
Last season the clubs played twice with each team winning on the road. The Bucks hold the all-time record with 26 wins in 50 matches versus the Grizzlies.
Milwaukee Bucks
As the defending champions, the Bucks have begun their player management heading into the postseason. They’ll likely rest at one member minimum of the core three for the remaining games.
Evidence of this practice has begun with at least one of the core three sitting in the last three matches and Holiday will sit Saturday. Unlike some teams who are title or bust, the Bucks have the swagger and belief (plus the depth) to know what it takes to win.
That affords them the option of taking these moves to rest players here and there down the stretch. Never copious games in a row and never raising the white flag but ensuring their roster is fresh.
Another championship team doing this is the Warriors while the 76ers have done it in a few matches (weirdly sitting both Embiid and Harden recently). Some teams have no choice – they need to rest injured players like the Grizzlies with Ja Morant.
Guaranteed if the playoffs started tomorrow many of the players sitting games right now would be suiting up but the teams still fighting for playoff position or to create a culture can’t take that route.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) is questionable, Khris Middleton (wrist) is probable, while Jrue Holiday (ankle) was downgraded to out for Saturday. De’Andre Bembry (knee) is out indefinitely.
Memphis Grizzlies
Prior to the recent match versus the Paces head coach Taylor Jenkins updated Ja Morant will be out at least two weeks due to right knee soreness. The rising star has sat the last two matches and the team is erring on the side of caution.
However, Jenkins clarified the team is following the medical staff’s advice and expect Morant to return before the end of the season. This might be something to raise a red flag over, but it seems more like a business decision.
While the Grizzlies are 16-2 without Morant in the lineup they have no delusions a deep run by this young inexperienced team will require Morant to be at his best.
Dillon Brooks (ankle) was upgraded to probable while Brandon Clarke (hip) and Killian Tillie (knee) were downgraded to out for Saturday. Ja Morant (knee) is out for a presumed two weeks.
NBA Betting Trends:

- Memphis are 6-0 SU in their last 6 games at home.

- Grizzlies are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 home games.
Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Memphis Grizzlies NBA Prediction:
As of this posting, both clubs are sitting in second in their respective conferences. There is debate teams will jockey for position with the potential of sliding to third (if first place in the Bucks case becomes unattainable).
That is because of the prospect of Paul George returning to the Clippers and a full-time Kyrie Irving playing for the Nets now that the vaccine mandate will be lifted for athletes in New York.
However, the reality is those seeds won’t be determined until the play-in tournament games are played where anything could happen. And frankly these two teams in particular play with a ‘bring it!’ attitude so I’m not sure they’ll be the clubs most concerned about sliding down.
As for this match, if Antetokounmpo and Middleton both play they should have the depth to win but this gritty Memphis squad is delighting in letting all their opponents know they’re ready having just demonstrated that fact versus the Nets.
Both teams are also 8-2 through their last 10 matches and with a meager one-point spread in favor of Memphis even the oddsmakers must feel this is a coin flip.
