Playoff series shift venues as the Milwaukee Bucks are on the road to face the Indiana Pacers for the next two matches. The series is knotted at one win each after Indiana put a 125-108 beat down on the Bucks to win Game 2.
Season Series
Last season the Bucks took three of the four regular-season contests but this year the Pacers reversed that fortune winning four of the five contests with an extra match thrown in due to the In-Season Tournament.
Milwaukee holds the all-time record between the clubs with 115 victories in 211 matches versus the Pacers.
This is the third time the clubs are playing in the postseason with the Pacers taking both series including their last meeting in 2000.
*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, on Thursday, April 25th. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Friday, April 26th.
Milwaukee Bucks
Through two games in Milwaukee Damian Lillard has come out hot scoring all of his 35 points in the first half in Game 1 while he netted 26 of his 34 points in the first half in Game 2.
However, the superstar needs more help offensively and the Bucks who shut down Indy in Game 1 struggled to replicate that effort in Game 2.
It wasn’t just one area of the floor as Indy shot 55.6% from the field, 44.4% from the perimeter and won both the fast break scoring (14-5) and points in the paint scoring (52-36).
Bucks Stats
Milwaukee’s key categories find them ranked sixth offensively (117.6), and 19th defensively (115.0) with a net differential of plus +2.6 which ranks 11th overall.
Through the second game of the playoffs, Milwaukee ranks eighth offensively (114.2), and 11th defensively (115.9) with a minus -1.7 net differential ranking 10th.
As the season progressed, the Bucks struggled against the spread with a 36-48 record in that category through 84 matches.
Bucks Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Khris Middleton, SG (questionable — ankle)
- Giannis Antetokounmpo, PF (OUT indefinitely — calf)
- Chris Livingston, SF (doubtful — illness)
Indiana Pacers
The trade that brought Pascal Siakam to Indiana looks like a steal at this point with the young vet feasting in the playoffs. Head coach Rick Carlisle suggested he’s also become someone the youngsters on Indy trust as a mentor and heed his advice.
Siakam who registered a playoff career-high of 36 points in Game 1 followed it up with a new best of 37 points in Game 2 but was more involved in distributing the ball adding 11 rebounds, and six assists.
Pacers Stats
Indiana possesses the second-ranked offense (120.5) however, their defense lacks something to be desired as it ranks 24th (117.6) while their net differential of plus +2.9 registers 10th overall.
Through the second game of the playoffs, they rank sixth offensively (115.9), and ninth defensively (114.2) with a plus +1.7 net differential ranking seventh.
The Pacers began the season strong and remained one of the better bets against the spread with a 45-37-3 record through 85 matches.
Pacers Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Bennedict Mathurin, SF (OUT for season — shoulder)

Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Indiana Pacers NBA Prediction:
After scoring their fewest points this season Indy returned to their identity in Game 2 and with that confidence return home where the Pacers faithful will be ready to play the role of sixth man.
The Bucks inconsistency reared it’s ugly head in Game 2 and now Doc Rivers has the uneviable task of figuring out how to stop Indy’s speed and find enough offense to complement Dame’s output.
The latter task gets more complicated without Giannis Antetokounmpo and the possibility Middleton could miss Game 3.
Ultimately, it appears like the Bucks vets can’t keep up with the speed and youth of Indy so I’m taking the Pacers to pull ahead in the series.
