The Bucks won their initial seeding game defeating the Boston Celtics while the Rockets came from behind to defeat the Mavericks in a game Dallas had well in hand.
This is the second meeting between the teams this season with the Bucks winning the first and on a three-game win streak over the Rockets.
Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Milwaukee Bucks picked right up where they left off prior to the hiatus winning another game and keeping distance between themselves and every team in the NBA.
The win over the Celtics came without the services of Eric Bledsoe and Pat Connaughton who both tested positive for COVID-19 and though they are both negative now they are in the process of building their conditioning back up. Their availability for this match is unlikely.
Antetokounmpo continues to feast on both sides of the court looking like a good bet to win Most Valuable Player as well as Defensive Player of the Year.
His effect is clear as the only time the Celtics got into the match was the minutes The Greek Freak sat. His stat line was typical with 36 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists all accomplished in 32 minutes.
Khris Middleton served up 18 points, eight assists, and five rebounds while Brook Lopez chipped in 14 points.
Houston Rockets
The small ball experiment continues and but for a Mavericks team who struggle in the clutch, the Rockets might be entering this match without a victory. Fortunately, the Rockets hung in and fought back in clutch time to force overtime and capture the win.
Putting points on the board isn’t the issue as Houston won the game 153-149 led by a massive performance from James Harden who scored 49 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds.
His running mate in the backcourt was equally impressive as Russell Westbrook dropped 31 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. In fact, it was the activity of Westbrook defensively in the late stages of the fourth quarter that could be cited as the reason Houston were able to get back in the match.
The Rockets will be without the services of Eric Gordon who is healing from a bad ankle sprain and expected to miss up to two weeks.

Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Houston Rockets NBA Prediction:
The secret for Mike Budenholzer for the remainder of the seeding games will be keeping his team invested knowing they’ve sewn up the top seed and other than conditioning and tweaking small things don’t have much to play for.
The Rockets, however, are anxious to separate themselves from the tightly packed two through seventh seeds in the West.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Bucks -4
If the Bucks play their MVP regular minutes they would have a decided edge, especially with their frontcourt size countering the Rockets small ball group.
The question is whether Coach Bud will play Antetokounmpo, Middleton and Lopez typical minutes. If he does this is an easy win for the Bucks, if he doesn’t the Rockets can steal a game. I’m banking on the former.
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
