Game three between the sixth-seed Chicago Bulls and third-seed Milwaukee Bucks tips off on Friday, April 22nd, 2022. Milwaukee won the opening game 93-86 while the Bulls evened the series with a 114-110 victory in Game 2.
Milwaukee swept the season series with wins on January 21st (94-90), March 4th (118-112), March 22nd (126-98), and April 5th (126-106).
The Bulls hold the all-time record having bested the Bucks in 132 of their 259 matches.
This will be the fifth time the teams have played in the postseason, Milwaukee won 4-0 in 1974 (Conference finals), 3-1 in 1985 (first round) while Chicago won two opening-round series, 3-1 in 1990 and 4-2 in 2015.
Milwaukee Bucks
The defending champions seemed poised to make another run for Larry O’Brien but after two games the series is tied and the Bucks have lost one of their top players.
Khris Middleton sprained his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and clearly will miss some significant time. Bobby Portis also suffered an injury in the first quarter of game 2 (eye abrasion) although his presence in Game 3 is likely.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was stellar posting a near triple-double with 33 points, 18 rebounds, and nine assists (plus a steal, and two blocks) but needed more offensive help.
Middleton contributed 18 points, five rebounds, and eight assists in 33 minutes prior to the injury. Brook Lopez scored 25 points including hitting three of his six triples.
Jrue Holiday offered 15 points, six rebounds, and six assists but shot an inefficient 6 of 16 while Wes Matthews scored 11 but was struggling to stop DeRozan and LaVine.
Bobby Portis (eye) is probable while George Hill (abdominal) is downgraded to out Friday. Khris Middleton (knee) is out indefinitely.
Chicago Bulls
DeMar DeRozan has taken his lumps over the years for disappearing in playoff games when his scoring is needed and getting picked on by the opponent on the defensive end.
The veteran wasn’t about to roll over and play dead despite being down 1-0 in the series and having a poor shooting night in the opener. Instead, he delivered a career-high 41 points and led his Bulls to victory.
DeRozan added seven rebounds, four assists, a steal, and two blocks. His cohorts that form the Bulls Big 3 were also much better in the second game as Nikola Vucevic registered a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds.
In his second-ever playoff game, Zach LaVine provided 20 while Alex Caruso was an x-factor checking all the stat boxes with nine points, 10 assists, two steals, and two blocks.
Sophomore Patrick Williams offered 10 points and nine rebounds.
Matt Thomas (leg) was downgraded to out on Friday. Lonzo Ball (knee) remains out indefinitely.

- The total has gone UNDER in 13 of Chicago’s last 20 games.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Chicago Bulls NBA Analysis:
Neither reserve unit offered much in Game 2 with the Bulls bench scoring 10 points versus the Bucks bench scoring eight points.
With the injuries to Milwaukee, Mike Budenholzer’s deep squad is suddenly under the spotlight to step up and provide more for the two games in Chicago.
Expect the United Center to be amped with Bulls fans thrilled to be back in the postseason and they could serve as x-factors in the next two matches as they try to will their team ahead in the series which is suddenly much more in question without Middleton available.
Then again, Antetokounmpo is the best player on the court and he’ll try to put the Bucks on his shoulders in an effort to propel his team back in front of the Bulls in the series.
Watch for this series to get more physical now that it’s a best of five.
