The Bucks and Bulls should be very familiar with each other. Not just because of their proximity on I-94, but because they just met up last Thursday.
MIlwaukee was victorious 124-115 in that meeting at the Fiserv Forum. Can Chicago keep it a bit closer Monday night at home? Oddsmakers are expecting a lower scoring game than before too with a total of 229.5.
The Bucks come into Monday’s game on a roll. They are 7-1 over their last 8 with that lone defeat being a 3 point loss at Utah. Milwaukee has rattled off three wins in a row coming into Chicago.
Milwaukee brings the #1 scoring offense in the league into the matchup with the Bulls. Even with the loss of Khris Middleton, the Bucks are averaging 118.8 but have scored 120+ in 4 of the last 6.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, as expected, led the win over the Bulls last Thursday with 38 points and 16 rebounds. Chicago also struggled vs. the Bucks back court as Eric Bledsoe added 31.
Bledsoe did struggle on the road in Milwaukee’s last game, posting just 10 points vs. the Pacers. Antetokounmpo had 26 points and 13 rebounds in what was a more lower scoring game vs. Indiana, a 102-83 Milwaukee win.
Saturday night’s game in Indiana showed that Milwaukee can clamp down on defense when needed. They have the second best unit in the league in that regard, holding opponents to 40.8% shooting from the field.
The Bulls had their chances in Thursday’s loss to the Bucks, taking a 66-65 lead into the half. The Bucks went on a run in the 2nd half but still the biggest lead of the game was just 11 points.
Overall the Bulls have lost 5 of 7 with their only wins coming against the Knicks and Atlanta over that span. Chicago is one of the worst shooting teams in the league at just 42.6% from the field which is a bad matchup vs. Milwaukee.
Chicago did get 25 points from Zach Lavine vs. Milwaukee last Thursday and seems to have found a bright spot in Coby White. The rookie had 26 off the bench vs. the Bucks and had 27 the game prior vs. the Knicks.
It’s easier said than done- but the Bulls have to try to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo if they want to cover the 7.5 on Monday. The Greek Freak averaged 29.3 points and 13.7 rebounds in 3 games vs. the Bulls last season.
The Chicago defense has given up 117+ points to 5 of the last 7 opponents and it’s implied Milwaukee has 118 in this game. The Bucks will likely blow through that number – but can Chicago keep the pace?
