Thursday, March 31st, 2022, the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets meet for the fourth and final time this season. Milwaukee leads the series 2-1 with wins on October 19th (127-104) and January 7th (121-109) while Brooklyn won the last meeting on February 26th (126-123).
Both teams last played on Tuesday with Milwaukee outlasting the 76ers in a battle, winning 118-116 while the Nets beat the Pistons 130-123.
Last season the clubs played three times with Milwaukee coming out on top in two of the three contests. The Bucks hold the all-time record having bested the Net in 106 of their 182 matches
Milwaukee Bucks
For the majority of this season, Joel Embiid was the front runner to win MVP. Then the current MVP, Nikola Jokic simply couldn’t be ignored any longer – – not with the copious statistical categories the Joker was dominating all while leading his Nuggets with key core absences.
Yet, if you watch more than a single team or just the Nationally televised games and have caught the Bucks matches it was clear Giannis Antetokounmpo is better than either of his MVP winning seasons.
On Tuesday, facing the 76ers he reminded fans and analysts of that fact with a punctuation mark. Embiid was stellar with a double-double of 29 points and 14 rebounds plus seven assists, and a steal.
Giannis’ response was his own double-double of 40 points and 14 rebounds plus six assists, a steal, and three blocks with his last block proving to be a game-winner.
Suffice to say this MVP race isn’t over and based on Giannis’ post-game Dad jokes I doubt he’s losing sleep over it.
Antetokounmpo (knee) is probable for Thursday. De’Andre Bembry (knee) is done for the season.
Brooklyn Nets
Kevin Durant is unguardable and when healthy I’m hard-pressed to pick anyone better on the hardwood. His game is almost symphonic at this point the way he glides on the court, the pure sweet shooting stroke.
His laid-back approach at dissecting teams either to score as needed or conduct his orchestra of teammates by feeding them with easy assists feels like an assassin at work all delivered with a cool calm swagger.
And yet — I’m not convinced this Nets team has enough even with Kyrie Irving back full time.
Since the blow-out statement win in Philly, the Nets are 6-3. Among the six wins was an impressive victory versus the Heat (who were in a funk), four wins versus sub .500 teams, and one against the Jazz who have struggled.
The point is – as much as I’m all in on KD I’m not convinced a great defensive team won’t beat them in a seven-game series.
Ben Simmons (back/conditioning) is out indefinitely. Joe Harris (ankle) is done for the season.

- The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Milwaukee’s last 9 games.

Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Prediction:
This could easily be the Eastern Conference Finalists this season if all things fall right for both sides in terms of where they land on the seeding chart. – – OR it could be a preview of a first-round series, that’s how crazy the Eastern ladder is at the moment.
Because of that factor, it’s likely Mike Budenholzer and Steve Nash won’t want to get too cute with their schemes. In other words, neither side will want to share any special plans they might be holding onto for the playoffs.
It’s also likely to be a more offensive-focused match unless Brooklyn elects to put Durant on the Freak and Giannis on KD — um — highly doubt either side does that for more than a few possessions.
Regardless, we’ll get Giannis versus K.D. and undoubtedly a pre or post-game comment from Antetokounmpo on how Durant is the best player in the world (he says it every time they meet).
