Monday, November 7th, the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks play the second of four scheduled matches this season. The Bucks won the opening October 29th contest – 123-115.
Each team will host once more with the game in Atlanta on November 14th and in Milwaukee on January 11th.
Milwaukee last played Saturday extending their unbeaten streak to nine games in a row following their 108-94 victory versus the Thunder. The Hawks also played Saturday defeating the Pelicans 124-121 in an intense overtime battle.
Last season the clubs played three times with the Hawks winning two of the three contests. The Bucks hold the all-time record with 116 wins in 230matches versus the Hawks.
Milwaukee Bucks
Entering the weekend Giannis Antetokounmpo was one of four players averaging 25 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. The other three are Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Pascal Siakam.
Specifically, Antetokounmpo is averaging 32.6 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game and with his Bucks unbeaten he’s the early season co-favorite (Luka) to win MVP.
The Bucks allow the fewest opponent points (101.1) per game and also hold opponents to the lowest field goal percentage (42.3%.). Prior to Saturday the Bucks ranked 10th for opponent perimeter percentage but jumped all the way to fourth (32.3%).
Offensively the Bucks are behind their typical standard scoring 112.9 points per game ranking 17th. They are shooting 45.3% from the field and 34.3% from the perimeter which ranks 23rd and 22nd respectively.
Without Khris Middleton and Pat Connaughton Milwaukee is missing two of their best perimeter shooters who provide close to 30 points and five triples per match. Once they return to action it should equate to a more balanced two-way effort on the floor.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (knee) is upgraded to probable while Sandro Mamukelashvili (concussion) is questionable for Monday. AJ Green (nose), Pat Connaughton (calf), and Khris Middleton (wrist) are out indefinitely. Joe Ingles’ (ACL) earliest return date is mid-January.
Atlanta Hawks
After a brutal 30-point loss to the Raptors, the Hawks bounced back with two gritty victories. They erased a 23-point deficit in New York to beat the Knicks and followed that up with an overtime victory versus the Pelicans who had all their core healthy and back on the floor.
Trae Young led with a double-double of 34 points and 10 assists while Dejounte Murray registered a triple-double of 22 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.
Although this backcourt duo is shining if there are any concerns it’s the number of shots they are taking or more accurately how many shots their teammates aren’t getting because of their dominance.
In the victory versus the Pelicans, they attempted 49 shots which were almost 50 percent of the Hawks’ 103 field goal attempts.
Atlanta made some strides this past week on the defensive end of the floor (other than the rout in Toronto) which resulted in an improved seasonal defensive ranking, particularly in opponent shooting efficiencies.
To wit, they allow 115.3 points per game ranking 22nd but are holding opponents 45.5 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from the perimeter which finds them positioned 10th and third respectively.
Offensively, Atlanta scores 116.4 per game ranking sixth, while shooting 46.9 percent from the field (ranks 13th) and 34.4 percent from the perimeter (tied for 20th).
Bogdan Bogdanovic (knee) is out indefinitely.

Free Milwaukee Bucks vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction:
Eventually, the Bucks will lose a game but they’re locked in especially on the defensive end of the floor with opponents struggling to score or to find open or quality shots.
If the Hawks thought the Raptors put them on notice they better be prepared because the Bucks’ defense is no joke!
