Sunday, April 3rd the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors meet for the fourth and final time this season. Toronto leads the series 2-1 taking the triple-overtime game on January 29th (124-120) as well as the February 1st match (110-106) while the Heat won on January 17th (104-99).
The Heat arrives to finish a back-to-back set having beat the Bulls 127-109 on Saturday while the Raptors won 102-89 versus the MAgic on Friday.
This match is being promoted heavily in Canada since it marks the first time Kyle Lowry returns to play at Scotiabank Arena since the onset of the coronavirus and his subsequent exit to Miami.
Last season the clubs played three times with the Heat taking two of the three contests. The Heat holds the all-time record with 57 wins in 95 matches versus the Raptors.
Miami Heat
Kyle Lowry is going to be received like a hero in Toronto. If you witnessed the :90 second ovation CJ McCollum received in Portland this past week – think that and multiply it by 10.
The fans will undoubtedly be vocal, there will be a video montage and between the Lowry chants expect some tears. Lowry is that beloved North of the border. He’s known as the GROT – Greatest Raptor of all Time tied to his nine seasons in Toronto.
While winning the title certainly cemented that title there are numerous occasions to point to where he rallied the squad, took a critical charge or hit a heat check 3-pointer to change the momentum in a game.
Miami has seen glimpses of the Lowry factor most notably early in the season when Butler and Adebayo were out and the veteran guard got the most out of the young others.
It won’t be surprising if Lowry has a huge scoring night – – nor would it be surprising if he ends up with a double-double with the focus on setting up his teammates to excel.
Caleb Martin (calf) is questionable for Sunday.
Toronto Raptors
Over the course of the Raptors franchise, it’s been more common for the star players who exited to return and be mercilessly booed. In fairness, TMac and Chris Bosh couldn’t wait to leave to go to a US market and Vince Carter demanded a trade and stopped playing to force it.
It took close to 20 years for the fan base to forgive Vince Carter and hey – go check out the ridiculous trade package they got in return (with one player refusing to report) and you’ll understand why there needed to be time to get past that nightmare.
Lowry however will be received unlike any Raptor player prior. Sure Kawhi Leonard got his roses for the title, DeMar DeRozan, Jose Calderone, and Mo Pete were each warmly welcomed every time they returned to Toronto.
But Lowry will is quite possibly the most beloved Toronto athlete ever – and tomorrow that love will be showered upon him.
Malachi Flynn (hamstring) played with the G-League 905 to ramp up his return and was updated to questionable for Sunday. Yuta Watanabe (quad) is also questionable.

Free Miami Heat vs. Toronto Raptors NBA Prediction:
After a brief stumble, the Heat is back on track having won three in a row including two critical wins versus the Celtics and Bulls to keep them sitting atop the East. The Raptors have vaulted into fifth following the Bulls loss and enter this match on a five-game win streak.
No doubt, Lowry and his teammates will be motivated by the shower of affection he’ll receive but Toronto needs to jump on Miami right away since they’re playing on consecutive days and sport a 4-9 record in the second game of those sets.
