The Miami Heat are a threat in just about all of their remaining 12 games. This is because Erik Spoelstra’s team is a) desperately trying to fend off the Magic and Hornets for the #8 seed in the East and b) has one of the best defenses in the NBA.

Miami ranks #3 in scoring defense in the league an an example of that prowess is holding Charlotte to 75 points on Sunday, Detroit to 74 on 3/13 and the Hornets again being shut down to 84 points on March 6th. It woul make sense then that Heat games are a very popular ‘under’ play. Miami definitely does love to slow down the pace and have stayed under 100 in 2 of the last 3. The Heat are 26th in possessions per game and San Antonio 24th so opportunities are going to be at  a premium for both squads on Wednesday.

Miami is 17-16 on the road this season but they’ve actually developed the depth that can help them keep it close vs. the Spurs. It’s nice to be able to pull Hassan Whiteside, Dwyane Wade, and Goran Dragic off the bench when needed mixing offense with that great defense.

San Antonio Spurs

Make no mistake, the Spurs definitely have something to play for in this one. San Antonio has climbed into 5th in the Western Conference, just 1.5 GB from Portland for the 4 seed which would mean home court in the 1st round of the playoffs. The Spurs are definitely peaking at the right time of the season as Gregg Popovich teams are ilk to do. San Antonio has rattled off 9 straight wins with a stretch that includes victories over OKC, Denver, Milwaukee, Portland, and Golden State all at the AT&T Center.
