Friday night NBA action will see a cross-conference game between the Miami Heat and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
This marks the first meeting between these two teams this season.
Miami Heat
The Heat snapped a two-game losing streak last time out, as they were able to beat the Spurs 106-100. As it stands, the Heat are the second best team in the Eastern Conference and hold the two seed.
Offensively, the Heat are an above squad, averaging 111.6 points per game. This is the 12th best scoring offense in the NBA. Most of their success is coming because they are shooting the ball at an elite level. They average 47.2% from the field, ranking 4th in the league. The Heat are just as hot from the three-point line, averaging 37.8% and ranking 2nd.
To no surprise, Jimmy Butler is the leading scorer for this Miami squad. He is averaging 20.5 points per game. He also leads the team in assists, averaging 6.4 per game. The Heat are easily one of the most balanced teams this season and have a total of four guys who average 15 points or more per game. Then they also have three guys who average between 11-13.5 points per game.
Some notable role players include Kendrick Nunn, Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic. Note Adebayo is averaging a double-double as well, so he is really having a solid season.

The Heat are also an above average defense team an allow 107.8 points per game. Their opponents really struggle to shoot the three ball against them and Miami posts the second best three-point defense at 32.6%.
Furthermore, the Heat are second best in the NBA in limiting rebounds, allowing just 41.7 boards per game.
Oklahoma City Thunder
Since having their winning streak snapped at Philadelphia not to long ago, the Thunder have gone just 3-3. They will be coming off a loss to the Raptors, where they went down 130-121. Oklahoma city is also just the 7th seed in the West now.
The Thunder are slightly below average when it comes to offense, as they average just 109.8 points per game. They shoot 46.7% from the field, which ranks 9th, but their three-point shooting is only 34.3%.
Oklahoma City has about four guys who do most of their scoring. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leads the team, averaging 20 points. Danilo Gallinari and Dennis Schroder both average 18+, and Chris Paul averages 16.5 points.
The one problem for this game will be the status of Steven Adams. As of right now, he is doubtful with a knee injury. Adams averages a double-double and it will be a big loss if he cannot go.
Defensively, the Thunder are an above average team, allowing 107.9 points per game. Teams shoot 45.6% against them and 34.9% from the three-point line.
Their defense has started to decline as of recently, allowing an average of 110.8 points. Also, in their last two home games, they are allowing 127.5 points.
This is going to be a tough game for the Thunder, especially if Steven Adams sits out. The Heat have too many scoring threats and I think it could lead to another poor performance by the Thunder defense.
