Season Series
Wednesday, April 19th finds the Miami Heat playing the Milwaukee Bucks in game 2 of the first-round playoff series. In the four matches, the teams played this season each side won twice.
Last season, the squads split the four regular season contests. The Heat hold the all-time record having bested the Bucks in 75 of their 126 matches.
Miami Heat
There is a hand full of players who automatically take a step up when the postseason begins and Jimmy Butler is undeniably among them. From the tip Jimmy Buckets was aggressive getting the Heat out to an early double-digit lead.
Yet, it was the long ball that stood out in this initial match with the Heat snipers shooting 60% (15 of 25) channeling last season’s 3-point prowess that had evaded them this season.
Not everything was positive as Tyler Herro dove for a loose ball breaking two fingers in his hand that will keep him sidelined for four to six weeks.
Stats
Offensively, the Heat scores 109.5 points per game ranking 30th while shooting 46% from the field and 34.4% from the perimeter ranking 26th and 27th respectively.
Defensively, the Heat allows opponents to score 109.8 points per game ranking second overall. Miami opponents shoot 48.2% from the field and 36.7% from the perimeter with both efficiency categories ranking 22nd.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Tyler Herro SG (OUT— fingers/hand)
- Nikola Jovic SF (OUT— back)
Milwaukee Bucks
Losing Game 1 won’t rock a team like the Bucks, but an injury to their superstar and the potential of losing him for any extended period would all but extinguish the odds of winning the title.
That’s what the Bucks were confronted with when Antetokounmpo took a body-jarring fall injuring his back. Unlike most of the series, this one had an extra day off which could prove impactful as the medical staff work on Giannis.
On the positive side of the equation, Khris Middleton delivered a strong performance looking closer to his pre-injury self so if Giannis can return to the series that bodes well for the Bucks.

Free Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction:
Teams that go up 2-0 in a best-of-seven series have won 92.2% of the time so while this isn’t a must-win situation for Milwaukee the pressure is definitely amplified to even the series up.
While everyone is focused on Antentokounmpo’s injury, the loss of Herro is huge for the Heat as he averaged 20.1 points per game and handles much of the ball distribution on a team with few playmakers.
It’s hard to fathom Milwaukee going down 0-2 but I don’t love the spread so, I’ll take the points.
