*Editor’s Note: Statistics and rankings are current as of this writing, Thursday, February 23rd. Numbers may vary slightly entering games on Friday, February 24th.
Miami Heat
It seemed illogical that the Cavs would buy out Kevin Love who has weathered the storm of LeBron James leaving and lean years being the lone vet and leadership voice in the locker room.
Love started the year well, performing great with the bench but a thumb injury derailed his production and it’s not like he was ever a beast defensively.
Still, the Heat who sure could use some rebounding and 3-point shooting help is a natural fit for the vet.
Miami returns from the break seeded in seventh, a half-game back of the Knicks, 2.5 behind the Nets, and 4.5 back of the fourth-place Cavs. Moving up the ladder won’t be easy with 23 games remaining and the ninth hardest strength of schedule.
Stats
Offensively, the Heat scores 108.3 points per game ranking 30th while shooting 45.2% from the field and 33.4% from the perimeter ranking 29th and 28th respectively.
Defensively, the Heat allow opponents to score 108.3 points per game ranking second overall. Miami opponents shoot 47.7% from the field and 36.7% from the perimeter ranking 20th and 21st respectively.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Tyler Herro, G (probable – knee contusion)
- Omer Yurtseven C (OUT indefinitely — ankle surgery)
- Nikola Jovic SF (OUT indefinitely, — lower back, stress reaction)
- Kyle Lowry G (OUT indefinitely—knee soreness)
Milwaukee Bucks
Giannis Antetokounmpo has to be healthy if the Bucks have any chance of hoisting Larry O’B again. So the star who injured his wrist in a freakish way (blocking a play and hitting the stanchion) went to New York for further testing.
Tests revealed a sprained ligament but no major damage so the star will rehab the injury and miss a few games but to be sure the entire organization is breathing a big sigh of relief.
Boston’s win pushes the Bucks back a full game but they have two games in hand so could theoretically tie and then surpass the Celtics if they win both matches.
Milwaukee has 24 games left to play and the 11th-ranked strength of schedule.
Stats
Opponents score the sixth-fewest points with the Bucks allowing 111.6 per game limiting opponents to 45.3% from the field and 34.6% from deep ranking second and third respectively.
Offensively, the Bucks score 114.8 points per game ranking 13th, while shooting 46.3% from the field and 35.9% from the perimeter ranking 23rd and 15th in the latter two categories.
Injury Report
To summarize the injury report…
- Giannis Antetokounmpo PF (doubtful— wrist)
- Pat Connaughton SF (doubtful— calf)
- Wesley Matthews G (OUT—right calf sprain)

Free Miami Heat vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA Prediction:
Milwaukee is on a league-high 12-game win streak but will have to extend it without the help of Antetokounmpo. Bobby Portis isn’t on the injury report so presumably, the Bucks will have pretty much everyone else back.
Both teams are defensively sound so this might be one of those old-school slug fests. Jimmy Butler is rested and healthy but Jrue Holiday has showcased why he’s arguably the most underrated player in the league during the win streak so I’ll take the Bucks to cover.
