This is the second meeting of the Heat and Pacers this week in round two of the Jimmy Butler – T.J. Warren bowl. Unfortunately, all the shade from their mix-up in January didn’t live up to expectations on Monday and neither will play in this game.
These teams are set to play each other in the first-round which means they could theoretically be playing nine games in short order including these two lead in games.
Moreover, since the teams face each other it’s not likely Nate McMillan or Erik Spoelstra will want to tip their hand to show anything the other side could take advantage of or game plan for.
While this Heat team feels like the dark horse of the Eastern Conference their performance in the seeding games hasn’t measured up to that hype as they’ve registered a 3-4 record through seven games.
It’s plausible they elected to target the fourth-fifth seed once they knew catching the Celtics was out of reach and likely also preferred the Pacers over the 76ers.
Butler and Warren will have to wait for the playoffs to resume their feud since Butler won’t play Friday. Neither will Bam Adebayo (knee), Goran Dragic (knee), or Gabe Vincent (shoulder).
Andre Iguodala (hip), Derrick Jones Jr. (knee), Kendrick Nunn (throat), and Jae Crowder (knee) are all listed as questionable.
The red hot T.J. Warren has cooled off which might have something to do with a sore foot. The Heat who had a vested interest in stopping him because of the Butler beef held him scoreless in the second half after he scored 12 in the first half.
Five Pacers scored in double figures in the win versus the Rockets led by Myles Turner who posted a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Victor Oladipo only played in one of three meetings so the Pacers hope they can translate his presence into taking down Miami.
Warren (foot), Myles Turner (wrist) and Oladipo (ankle) are all out Friday with Malcolm Brogdon (neck), and Goga Bitadze (knee) are questionable.
Domantas Sabonis remains out of the bubble trying to address his plantar fasciitis with a potential return not definitive.

Free Miami Heat vs. Indiana Pacers NBA Prediction:
This is the equivalent of a cat and mouse game with neither side likely to show any tips prior to their first-round series.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Pacers -1.5
Indiana might have more to play for since they lost all three games this season. A victory on Friday could bolster their confidence, regardless of who is on the court.
***NOTE*** In case you missed it…When the 2020 NBA 16-team playoff field is set, the NBA Playoffs will proceed in a traditional conference-based format with four rounds and best-of-seven series in each round. The 2020 NBA Finals will end no later than Oct. 13.
