Saturday, December 14th finds the Miami Heat squad taking on the rising Dallas Mavericks. This is the first meeting between the teams this season.
Last season, the squads played twice with Miami winning both and currently on a four-game win streak over Dallas. The Heat holds the all-time record having bested the Mavericks in 34 of their 65 matches.

The Heat enters this match on the second night of a back to back set having hosted the Lakers and lost their first game at home.
Although the Heat led for the majority of the first half they allowed LA to go on a 37-26 run in the third quarter and had a shot to tie the game on the last shot that Miami argued Butler was fouled on but the refs disagreed.

Five Heat players scored in double figures with Jimmy Butler leading the way scoring 23 but missing all five of his 3-point attempts. Bam Adebayo had a strong 12 point, 12 rebound double-double with five assists but it wasn’t enough to counter Anthony Davis who delivered 33 points, 10 rebounds and hit four triples.
The trio of Derrick Jones Jr. (17), Kendrick Nunn (16) and Kelly Olynyk (15) were the other double-figure contributors.
On the season Butler leads the team in scoring (20.6), assists (7.0) and steals (2.1). Bam Adebayo tops the other three categories with 10.5 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and tops in field goal percent (59.1%).
Justise Winslow (back) missed the last five games, and James Johnson (illness) missed the last three games with both questionable for Saturday.
Goran Dragic missed the last six games with a sore groin and Udonis Haslem (illness) missed the previous six games with both definitely out Saturday. Dion Waiters has been suspended by the team again for insubordination and won’t be eligible to return until December 27th.
Dallas Mavericks
Luka Doncic continues to impress and shock fans with his ability to set new NBA records despite only being 20 years old. Last week he surpassed a record Michael Jordan held of 18 consecutive games with 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Doncic has done it 20 times and counting. He achieved the 20th occasion in Mexico City in the Mavericks beat down of the Detroit Pistons by delivering a 41 point, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists triple-double.

Kristaps Porzingis is gaining confidence and the duo is building chemistry each game out. In the win over Detroit, he scored 20 points adding eight rebounds and three blocks.
Seth Curry was the only other Mavericks player to score in double figures with 30 points hitting six of nine 3-pointers.
Luka Doncic leads the Mavericks in scoring (30.2 points), assists (9.2), rebounds (9.9), field goal percent (48.2%) and steals (1.2) per game. The lone key category he isn’t leading belongs to his new running mate Kristaps Porzingis which is blocks (2.0).
Delon Wright missed the last two games with a right adductor strain and is listed as questionable for Saturday versus the Heat.
